I thought this might interest some visitors to the Orlando forum. The Hotel Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney is going to be completely renovated and reflagged as a B Resort. The B mini-chain currently operates one hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Their second property is expected to open in 2013 on South Beach.
The Fort Lauderdale hotel is between my house and my gym, so I pass by often. They did an extensive renovation on the structure, including the installation of new windows. I'd guess that their renovation on the Royal Plaza will be extensive.
While I HATE the name of the chain, I think they are smart in their niche marketing. They come across as a moderately priced W Hotel. It will be interesting to see how their brand will mesh with the family-friendly environment of Downtown Disney.
