No critique of Expert Flyer allowed?

I posted some questions about EF and it's ability to look for C class (upgrade inventory) on AA today, in the AA forum. I have a basic EF membership, and at some point (since EFV -- a rep of the company posted) the discussion began to center on the fact that almost every "feature" of the EF basic service plan is available for free.

Suddenly, the moderator swoops in and deletes all mention of the fact that the basic plan only really contains one feature that isn't already available for free on the internet (upgrade seat availabilty), and makes vague remarks about rude postings.

Is FT alffiliated with Expert Flyer? Or does the AA moderator have some affiliation with the company that would cause him to excise any critical, but true comments about the EF service?

I subscribed to EF because of the posts by their reps on the AA forum (apparently they have some special dispensation to advertise by way of comments). But the problem is the "features" listed for the basic plan are very misleading. I know it's not FT's job to make that clear, but this is where people come for information. Perhaps some posters would like to know this about EF prior to spending money on a basic plan. At least one other poster said it was good information to have (but their post was deleted as well).

Just wondering what the policy is. I don't see anything in the T&C that makes it against the rules to point out experiences with this type of FF product.

From what I have read of the situation, you accused EF of something that is not true in your posts. With all do respect to you and your feelings, I feel like EFV is a great resource, as is FT, and your comments are not respecting or constructively benefiting either.

I don't know the situation you were talking about. But I would like to point out there is also a master thread in TravelBuzz! Forum that discusses FlyerFlyer. See if the features/functions you had commented on are covered (or not):

Randy has asked that moderation questions be addressed to him, so I think this thread is proper.

I don't have any ax to grind about EF. But I have seen similar issues relating to other matters, and the EF issue raises the question. That is, we see misinformation (BAD misinformation) on these boards every day. And it is usually handled by subsequent posts which correct the information.

My general question is: should a moderator ever close a thread because it contains factually inaccurate information (not about a person or name calling or a political issue, but about a travel program)?

Per Randy's welcome note

Quote:
There's really only one restriction on this forum, one that has long been part of my philosophy on FlyerTalk. If you have a personal issue with another member, and that includes a moderator (as they are first and foremost members), then please direct that question or issue to me directly. Moderator issues, like member issues, are personal in nature, and as long as I have anything to do with FlyerTalk, I will strive to treat personal issues as personal. Those issues are best handled by writing me: randy@flyertalk.com
Therefore we'll close this to give Randy the opportunity to respond in the manner he sees fit. Please feel free to direct moderation/moderator issues to him in the way he has asked.

Thanks,
