Last Minute Tahiti Airfare strategy?

Hello!

Can anyone recommend a site or approach to obtaining discounted last minute airfare to Tahiti. DW and I find ourselves with 2 weeks over labor day that we could take advantage of. Don't want to pay 1500 a tik though from LA. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Pay up or don't go. Tahiti is generally not a market where last minute seats show up dirt cheap.

Tahiti short notice

I've been to tahiti 13 times since 1996. First few times I went, I got discounted airfare via Discover Wholesale Travel. Unfortunately they no longer exist. I've since Booked thru Air Tahiti Nui and Air New Zealand. Air NZ is out of the LAX-PPT. Tough to get a low airfare now, especially during the summer. Have you tried Air France or Hawaiian Airlines? I do recommend signing up at TN's website for specials as they occasionally have short-notice discount airfares. You also could try a package deal thru a Papeete based travel agent for discount deal (Easy Tahiti, Tahiti Nui Travel etc.). Think the lowest I ever paid for LAX-PPT was about $600 RT.

You did incredibly well. Tahiti is pretty much a captive / monopoly market for Air Tahiti Nui, a non-profit state-interest carrier that has forced out most competitors.
