Free rebid question?

Does anyone know, why, after I am offered a counteroffer,I cannot
simply enter my free rebid in the space provided below: it subsequently
tells me I have already made my daily bid. I must start again and add a dummy zone to in order to take advantage of the counteroffer.
I thought a couneroffer automatically meant a free rebid,period.

Are you bidding the full amount of the counteroffer? If not, one needs to change a parameter (add zone, change star level, date, etc) to bid again. Check out www.betterbidding.com & www. biddingfortravel.com for information on priceline strategies, etc.

Usually, one does not need to bid the full counteroffer to be successful. If you have additional zones and/or can wait until the next days, one can bid a fraction of the counteroffer (say 20% of it & go up from there) and be successful. If I get a counteroffer, I am close to getting a winning bid. On a $18 counteroffer, I may bid as little as $2 higher and snag the hotel, If not, I go up in increments. (depending on how many free rebids I have, if I can wait until the next day to rebid, etc).

Hope the above helps.

Cathy June is correct

If you are given a counteroffer amount, AND you can change one parameter of the bid, you can re bid again at a much lower amount than the counteroffer.

This JUST happened to me yesterday. I saw that bidders were getting the Hyatt Regency OHare for $46. I bid $40, got a counteroffer for $52,placed a rebid adding Skokie at $42, and got it for $42.

You should never have to take the counter offer. As a rule of thumb you can generally win the bid by bidding halfway between your last bid and the counteroffer. I have done this literally 40 or more times with excellent results.

Never accept the counter offer, you will be leaving money on the table.

Answer: Absolutely not. Period. Read what it says. Accept the counteroffer or do one of the things all the other posts suggest.
