Expedia was offline for upgrades.... now can't use Windows Live ID?

EXPy (all of their variants) were down last night and for most of today... they are back up now.

It appears you can't sign in with a Windows Live ID anymore (atleast on Expedia.com). I had a slew of itineraries on there... and lookup by itinerary doesn't work anymore.

Nice upgrades.

Remember: Backup, backup, backup! Have you not got a copy of your itineraries anywhere else?

Expedia.co.nz (their NZ site) is still down - does anyone know what the 'upgrades' were actually meant to be doing (other than reducing functionality as the OP suggests )

Oh yeah, I have all the itins in my e-mail.

I wanted to book a new flight and keep everything under one roof, but since it wants me to create an account... I might as well just go book with the airline direct and cut Expedia out of the picture.

Yeah, I tend to try and stay loyal to Expedia where I can, in hopes that they may be kind to me (). But if they do things like that, then it does lead one to believe they don't really admire loyalty so much. Not that they really care about us outside of the US/Canada/UK anyway!

I don't use a Live ID for Expedia, but going to Sign In (top right corner of front page), the signin page page has "Sign into my existing account" and a link that says "Use my Passport / Windows Live ID". Click on that.

When you try to login using your Windows Live ID, XP prompts you to set up a new account with them. I set up a new account and it worked fine for me. But I preferred Windows sign-in. Though not of much value, it does seem that XP is more ordinary and lame without MS patronage (its just me ;-) )

Yeah, I felt it convenient to use my LiveID... now it's the same as any old travel site it seems.

I agree.

I don't recall seeing an email on this, but apparently they communicated it earlier this month. I just tried to log in to check a pending itinerary and I needed to create a new password for my account.

Expedia lost me as a regular customer with this move.
