I remember your posts at BFT, Robin. I used to post at BFT but when I started using ebates for my PL bids, I decided about the same time to stop posting on BFT. I knew if I had posted, I would get banned for not using her links. So I just stopped posting before I got banned. Now I am a lurker there. Don't seem to use PL as much (don't stay in as many hotels?), but I bid probably every 2-3 months for a hotel somewhere.

What a forum - juicy stuff here. lol. Actually, I just wrote a piece on BFT and gave the site praises. I think it has (had) great potential, but it seems behind the scenes is a little pumped up in desperate need for click-thru's.

There are other BFT threads in this forum, one of which goes back to 2003. This thread is more or less just a newer version of that one.

BFT is a very valuable resource, thanks mostly to the data posters provide (until they're banned, of course). Just think how much better it could be if managed properly.....

Welcome to this very exclusive club.

I am mostly computer illiterate, but use http://www.unknownsurfing.com/ to surf over to bft. I can see the board. See the posts. There are many proxy services available.

Sheryl is one of those people who bites off her nose to spite her face. She has a great idea but regretfully she is a posting Nazi. Many of us have supported her endeavor only to be banished. You are welcomed at BB as you are here.

Good luck.

Seeing that you were banned really surprised me. Wow! BFT was agreat idea, but it's so sad to see how Sheryl's lack of people skills is killing it.
Thanks for posting here.

Trying using any one of several free proxy services. They allow you to search the site, see the boards. That is the way I get around being blocked.

can you explain a 'proxy' site. I did find a link on another site which brought up the home page to bft but when I tried to enter a post is then says I was banned. Why can't the people with access do a mass e mail to YUKU saying the site is flawed and once banned we have no way to access the site to ask the administrator a quesiton.

I AGREE! Once banned, I had no idea what Sheryl's email address was to write her to be unbanned. I guessed at a couple of email addresses for her, but got no response.

I've started posting my wins at betterbidding.com. It's not as well organized as biddingfortravel.com but at least the administrator is not insane.

do a google search for Sheryl Mexic if you want some light reading. Lots of issues going back to 2003. That site is her living. I bid and the clerk made me sign the slip by mistake. Priceline was paid $53 for a room they charged me $55 so there isn't much $$ to be had if that is the std range. PL makes money on a booking fee they charge the winning bid but other in between are most likely payed pennies per winning bid.

I respectfully disagree. Granted, BFT is arranged into more sub-forums, i.e. California is split into more zones, but you still have to do a search to get relevant information to make your bid a success.

However, over at BB, the search function is better, the title format for each winning post is easier to read, the Calendar of Wins makes it easy to see of someone has a win for your travel dates, the Priceline maps lets you see the location of a specific hotel and winning bid information as well, and as you mentioned, the moderator is more user friendly. As a plus, Hotwire wins are allowed so that board members can peek behind the opaque curtain.

Think again, its likely the $53 represents Priceline's payment to the hotel which includes room and tax. Assume the taxes and fees shown on top of your winning $55 bid came to about $10 give or take....that means Priceline made 20% or more on this transaction. PCLN stock is up about 50% since its recent low in October 2008 and has a market capitalization of over $3 Billion.

Bill Shatner, the Priceline Negotiator, earning pennies??
