My apology was for a brash comment directed at you... I've also apologized to the BB mod for breaking an unknown rule and asked again for clarification of what it was so I could avoid in the future. Don't confuse those acts with an acceptance of the actions taken as proper form.
I've had access to an affiliate link for years, and I use it. I just won't do the research needed to get "advice" about something I've been doing for what, ten years, and I'm not willing to pay (e.g. give up my affiliate fee) for the honor of posting my success.
It does not take a rocket scientist today to get 4 credit cards and 4 email addresses, and to figure out what the Red Roof Inn or Econolodge is charging. Start at that price for a 4* (or 80% of that price for a 3*), go up in $3 increments, rotate PL profiles, and don't worry about it.
Yes, I agree that the "win boards" for priceline are only modestly useful these days. They really serve only 2 functions for experienced priceline users: 1) they can save you time: if 8 people say the lowest price they could get on a 3 star in Peoria is $40, you pretty much know what price to shoot for and don't have to keep rebidding as a means of price discovery; and 2) they can open your eyes to opportunities that you might not otherwise consider. Like if there's a cheap rate that keeps popping up on a Hyatt in Hoboken, perhaps you think of bidding there instead of Manhattan.
In other words, I wish the bidding boards were better, but I can live without them being better.
Thank you for the apology. I've found that most here at FT are level headed professionals willing to fix their momentary lapses in judgement without heavy moderation.
I have used priceline and BFT for years. In the last couple of years, I have noticed a significant drop in the number of postings. I do not find it a good resource to find information on. Until I came across this thread, I did not understand why the number of postings had dropped so much. Now I understand why. Her business must be down.
I have also found the number of postings to be down so it is not as useful to me as it used to me. Also, sorry to hear how the moderator of the board responds to any sort of criticism, even if only perceived.
I was pleased when most of the detailed reviews I provided to B4T were lost during its server problems a couple years ago. I just don't understand a business model that chases good contributors away.
I never use BFT. I posted on her site a few times and she will respond back in a nasty way if you don't format your post properly. BB is has way better moderator and is a well run site. I also see people are not using her site as much. I think she will be done in a few years at this rate.

Sheryl's been away for quite a while with a serious illness. BFT is being run without restrictions and with help from moderators who cause no problems. When was the last time you looked? While BB has its strengths, so does BFT. The reason for a particular format for a post is that others go to BFT or BB as databases of winning bids and the posts need to make sense to someone scanning them. BB edits posts so that they conform to their own format - it makes sense.

That fine if she wants to run it that way but she could I little nicer to her clients. Customer service goes a long way. You can't expect someone to read all the rules for 1 hour to make 1 post. That's why BB is pulling ahead. I think its great that they edit my post to conform to there format. I do look at BFT all the time but I always go back and book through the BB link. I'm sorry for her health issue and I give a lot of credit to her for helping 1000's of people save a ton on there travel. Had I not accidentally came across her site one day I would still be paying rack rates. I just may give her site another chance one day but I'm not quite ready after banning me twice.
I think that BB edits for format because it makes extensive use of search functions
the Moderator over at BetterBidding edits just the title of the post for consistancy so these winning bids appear on the Calendar of Wins

BFT's strengths....what are they? Many requests for assistance go unanswered, posts are sometimes mis-categorized, posts are not checked for errors, and the number of posts are down making for fewer data points and BFT less relevant.
BetterBidding is head and shoulders above with the Priceline Maps, a far better search experience, the Calendar of Wins, more current posts, and a civil moderator.

I've just blown a bunch of time reading ALL of this thread. *whew!" I have a Yuku account for different purposes, and have peeked into BFT on occasion, but found 'her' tone to be offputting. One suggestion that hasn't been made, and I'll caveat that I don't know if it is possible....
If you've not been banned, is there any benefit to removing posts you've made? It seems to me if what makes it successful is participant input, that your input can be removed if you posted it. If an entry cannot be deleted, you can certainly edit it to remove all text. *shrug* Whether one considers that petty, vandalous or scandalous is another matter all together. I'll have to go look at better bidding...does it do rental cars too, or just hotels?
