For the benefit of those of us who still don't fully grasp the complexity of this "Sheryl is a meanie" issue, could you guys please keep making the same point over and over again in an apparently endless series of messages and threads? Thank you on behalf of the rest of the members of FlyerTalk.

You may have a point.I'm not sure "rest of the members of FlyerTalk" would agree with you,but I'm sorry if I inconvenienced or upset you. I do think the current discussion is not an attack on a person as "mean",but why the BFT forum doesn't reach its potential. Maybe even you, as its noted defender, might agree that more information from more priceline users would enhance its value.

I'm not quite sure you are empowered by the rest of the FT'ers to speak for them. I don't recall ever hearing a vote on your representation for us.

Evidently enough of us do have an issue over there. Evidently you don't have any issues over there, which is fine, just don't try and speak for me or everyone else.

Well, he's speaking at least for me, too. It's boring, really boring to read each and every day the same stories like ... "Sheryl is bad, meticulous, woundingly etc.pp. !".

Hey guys, no one pushes you to browse over BFT.com, right ?!

But there are many people (me included) out there whose wallet is fuller than others when they arrive at any hotel. Why ? Because of two very useful things: Priceline and BFT.

Don't like it - don't use it.

See how easy it is ?!

He's certainly not speaking for me, you can say what you want over and over again, it can't be emphasized enough. Bidding for travel isn't a public service, it's a money making business running under the guise of a public service that makes it's money from the affiliate links.

Plain and simple, the information is tightly controled by a law firm secretary who admits they don't even use Priceline who got bored insulting everybody in the rec.travel.air newsgroup and is making sure every post serves the purpose of generating more money for the site.

Yes, you're right ... I can say what I want and it can't be stressed enough:

No one forces you to browse their site.

I paid an amount of ZERO for using their service.

But I saved hundreds of bucks while using this service.

Period.

Even if you have personal problems with one (or more) of the persons running this service, don't tell it not useful.

Plain and simple - if you don't like it - don't use it.

Berki, I could not find any post here that claims BFT is not useful. Can you find such a post? If not, why do you make such a claim?

On the other hand, I will assert, from 1st-hand experience, that BFT is less useful than it could be. In the past several months, there have been a dozen or more instances when I could have provided useful information about winning/losing bids or about hotels zones in cities with which I'm extremely familiar. However, because of BFT's Rabbit Ears clause (in which BFT gets in a snit because of something that you post on some other board), that information was not provided to BFT's readership.

Kudos to you Berkie, that the BBRebozo speaks for you, but still BBRebozo does not speak for FT'ers in gen'l just a select few that happen to think the way you do.

BTW, if this was the only thread where the same stories are hashed over and over, you might have some credibility, however there are so many different threads on all the boards with this same problem, and I don't recall seeing your posts against those threads.

I agree with "wideman" on his quote: "On the other hand, I will assert, from 1st-hand experience, that BFT is less useful than it could be. Great job wideman!

Now back to Berki; you say "Hey guys, no one pushes you to browse over BFT.com, right ?!" and " Don't like it - don't use it.
See how easy it is ?!"

Well wouldn't that apply to this thread, who's holding a gun to your head to read this thread and obviously you are getting bored with it so you must have someone that is forcing you to read this thread over and over... No one pushes you to browse this thread right.. don't like this thread, don't read it!!! works both ways.. if you can spit it out, you better be able to eat it as well.

My issues are that BFT is useful, but could be much more useful if those who don't post (like myself) would include my PL results over there. There appears to be quite a few of us who don't post at BFT for the same reason.

So I'll ask again, Should we start a thread here for those of us who do not want to Post on BFT here on FT, if BFT pirates the info, so be it, but at least we won't be subject to the BFT rules?

Berki, noone forces you to read this thread either. If you don't like it don't read it! Other posters have every right to discuss whatever travel related topic they please as long as they aren't violating the TOS.
Personally I find BFT to be very useful but think it would be even more useful and much more enjoyable if it was moderated with a different attitude.

I got an e-mail from Randy Peterson, politely chastising me for the sarcastic tone of my earlier message. His key point was:

I really only have one goal in all this - to try and have every member get along. The peacemaker role is sometimes challenging and it takes some give and take by all members to make FlyerTalk a great destination.</font>
Great point. And in that spirit, I would like to apologize to the participants on this board for my childish and insensitive outburst. I will try very hard to be more measured and considerate in the future.

I enjoyed your post and empathized with your sense of disbelief and exasperation. Sarcasm is a great literary weapon when used sparingly.

I, for one, agree with TrojanHorse that if we had a "supplementary" posting area here, on FlyerTalk, we'd be doing a great service.

If there is a problem with BFT deleting useful information, it'd still be available here. If BFT copied our information, who cares? Bravo for BFT. I haven't complained about BFT, but I haven't posted over there either, probably due to the tone.

I've found BiddingForTravel useful, and will continue to peruse it. If Sheryl makes money on it, great. But if enough of US have a problem with the depth and scope of information on the site, the solution is at our fingertips if enough of us care to post.

Maybe the idea won't fly. We won't know until somebody starts a thread, or a forum, and we see how it goes. I'm not that person, but I sure won't diss whoever does: as with all the volunteers here, they deserve A MEDAL.
