Why is AA Website Higher?

In researching business class to Europe next May, fares on the AA site are $4k higher than, say, Expedia, for the same flights. Is this normal?

Most airline sites are not good a searching fares. OTAs often have better search algorithms. Expedia does sell some "consolidator" fares, but they give warn you when they do and usually won't give you the flight details till after you have purchased it. If this is not the case here, you can probably get the AA web site to show this fare by finding it on IT A Matrix and using Book with matrix.

There is also the possibility that expedia is showing you a cached fare that is no longer available.
