Expedia's 24hr cancellation for AA?

Expedia's 24hr cancellation for AA?
Flight is within 48hrs so I can't put it on hold (thanks AA!). I believe the 24hr cancellation is not allowed by AA if the travel is within 7days of booking either.

Expedia website states this on the purchase page but doesn't mention all T&C.

Tickets are nonrefundable 24 hours after booking and nontransferable. A fee of $200.00 per ticket is charged for itinerary changes. Name changes are not allowed.
I almost never buy from OTAs unless there are 'special fares'. But would buying from Expedia help here? Has anyone had experience in canceling AA fares with Expedia (booked within 7days of travel date)?

Expedia is a mere agent and will not allow a cancellation if the airline will not.

Not true at all. Expedia will void tickets typically within 24 hours of booking even for non-cancellable AA tickets.

And Expedia eats the revenue loss? I highly doubt it. But if so, it's another nail in the coffin of those who say "never, ever" book with an OTA.
