FAQ

When is [insert airline here] joining oneworld???
Which airlines are lined up to join?
See list below and
https://www.oneworld.com/member-airlines/overview
Another useful page for official announcements is: https://www.oneworld.com/news-information/oneworldnews

Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):

WY - Oman Air
Announced 20JUN22, with a target of '2024' - no indication yet when in 2024 this may be. https://www.oneworld.com/news/2022-0...-join-oneworld

Expected members:

FJ - Fiji Airways
Currently the only oneworld Connect member, FJ stated 28FEB24 that they would like to seek full membership and would apply in Q3 2024.Full membership may still take until 2025/2026. #1489 and https://onemileatatime.com/news/fiji-airways-oneworld/

EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

As this thread is more related to oneworld than to AA, I'll go ahead and relocate it to the oneworld forum.

Rumor about a new member (possibly Volaris) joining OneWorld?

perhaps some one did a case study of when Mexicana joined Oneworld years ago. you can't do a case study of something that hasn't happened yet

Volaris would be an interesting addition. We have never flown them, heard mixed things, CHEAP peak fares within Mexico - might get us to reconsider starting trips to CUN, CZM, SJD out of TIJ
But, still a member. They haven't been liquidated...yet.

Notice how Malev isn't listed on oneworld anymore?

I don't think it's Mexicana... the speaker mentioned "you might be able to see the news in WSJ later this year or next year".

OW looking for Indian Airline?

Bruce Ashby mentioned it at the IATA

Could IndiGo be a possible choice?

With QR keen to buy a stake in Indigo, it could be a possibility

Love how the second article calls out Etihad as a *A member

FWIW, I'm not terribly enamored with the "benefit" of having access to tertiary destinations on an LCC. Really, 9W is the only worthwhile partner, and they're (a) everywhere but OW with their EY tie-up, UA codeshares as well as AF/KL connections and (b) bleeding cash. So no, intra-India, I don't really see any opportunity of OW that's worth the while for travelers.

Basically it's a play for cheap feed. Meh.

For me opinion, all of the alliance want the domestic market in India. So IndiGo and Spicejet are well feed oneworld. Coz they don't have much international market..... Hope oneworld announce newest member in India ASAP

They may need local Indian and mainland chinese members, but what about Africa?

Getting AS, B6 and/or WS would help too

Royal Air Maroc to join oneworld?

Flightglobal is reporting from the Arab Air Carriers Organization today that Royal Air Maroc has indicated it sees oneworld as the most appropriate alliance to join from a strategic perspective.

No comment from oneworld, but they have no African carrier yet.

People have been saying that about AT for years.

Oneworld does have an African member. Comair as an affiliate of BA.

Not wanting another Kingfisher fiasco, I think AT will fit fine into the OW family
