LHR to HKG which Airline in F

If you were to fly LHR to HKG what airline in F class would you pick:

Cathay
British
Qantas

Basically I am asking, who has the best F service/experience.

That's easy. CX. It may change when QF operates A380 on this route, but that is a long way off at the moment.

Hmmm...definitely CX if a 74A, but I don't know what they're running.

Between old CX and QF, tougher, but probably still CX (probably).

Definitely either of those over BA, but not by a huge margin.

All three are quite acceptable, and it depends on crews (and equipment, particularly in the case of CX).

Agreed

CX do run the 74A but not on all flights, and as I experienced subs do happen, so until the 74A is on all a/c it is no guarantee.

CX in any case. QF and BA have 14 F seats in the nose. CX old is only 12 seats, much more space. CX new is 9 seats.
So even if you end up with the old CX seat you still have a better product.

Another thing to consider are the lounge facilities used at LHR.

Another thing to consider since you are an AA Plat, and I assume will be earning AA miles on your flights, is that BA does not give you Platinum 100% elite bonus miles. That means you will lose about 12000 RDMs if you choose to fly BA.

The spanking new T5 Flounges do make flying BA out of LHR a much stronger proposition than before. Though you do spend a lot more time onboard than on the ground waiting the flight, unless delayed.

The Concorde Room at T5 is indeed excellent, but unless you need to spend several hours at the airport for some reason this wouldn't be the over-riding factor for me. I'd go CX on a 74A.

That was my point. If the OP sleeps a lot than the ground experience gains in importance. And then BA would be my choice (can't believe I said this ). If the OP wants to take in all the nuances of F service then I would go for CX.

Maybe I'm alone but I prefer the BA seat and cabin layout to the old CX one. Non 74A feels very exposed and the BA seat offers more room between the seat and the window for stuff.

The sure thing with CX is at least the seat looks and feels well maintained.

Even if CX has the old F seat (non 74A) I still prefer CX. QF comes before BA.
