Sorry I left out that this trip would be using to AA OW190C awards, so no earning potential. And yes, I am considering adding SA, so would look at either BA or IB Europe-SA probably, then work back up to NA. It is all kind of in the dream stage still at this point but here's a preliminary plan which goes to NA first then SA:

LHR-MIA-GUA-MIA-CCS-LIM-EZE-SYD-PVG-HKG-HAN-HKG-DEL-AMM-AUH-LHR

I've read however that the EZE-SYD segment in J on QF is/will be nearly impossible to get, so I'm not counting on that.

EZE-SYD has only been operating 2 weeks. This early into its service I'm not sure you can read anything into award availability or lack of - QF will still be working out patterns of sales for the route. Perhaps you are thinking of SCL-SYD/AKL? That route is very difficult to get in business class (no first any more) as award or even as discounted booking class.

As everyone else. CX for sure. Probably QF over BA, but marginal.

Do you have to use one of those three?

I'd be looking at Upper Class on Virgin personally.

What about in business class? CX or BA? Does CX operate new business class out of LHR? I am currently booked on BA, but will have flown several BA long haul (LHR-DXB-LHR) in club world by the time I fly LHR-HKG.

Seating wise BA is better. But everything else CX is better. But if it is a night flight I guess sleep is the most important thing.

CX does have an additional sleeper service on the LHR route, where they offer a seperate large main course salad with hot western soup and dessert. Also the Duvet is nicer on CX.

CX does operate the new J Class on 3 of the 4 flights to LHR. It is almost guarantee on the 251/255 from HKG-LHR and 250/252 from LHR-HKG.

Check to make sure whether your flights is a 74A or 34B.

I recently got operationally upgraded from J to F on CX (hkg-ams) for my first CX experience up front. Can only compare it with BA, but I'd certainly go with CX if given the choice.
