Ultimate global A/D/LONE3/4/5/6 pricing

As of Aug. 8, 2007, the most current pricing available can be found in WearyBizTraveler's spread sheet, referenced here.

There is an anticipated price increase on Sept 1, 2007, at least in Asia.

Also, Serfty has listed a number of resources for fares:

Consolidating RTW fare data

I've taken the liberty of using this data to put together a spreadsheet with all the RTW fares for oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance. It still needs a bit of work, but those who're interested can download it here.

updated ex-CAI prices

Hi all,

I just bought my newest AONE3 ex-CAI and made a note that the price in EGP was exactly the same as in last November but the price in EUR significantly higher as EGP has strengthened against EUR/GBP/USD.

I made a script and a web page http://www.iki.fi/visti/owe.html that updates daily. It fetches real-time exchange rates information and calculates the current prices in EUR/USD/GBP. I don't have that many prices in EGP (only AONE3, AONE4, DONE4 are displayed as I was able to pick the EGP prices from this thread). I might add other tickets and maybe even other locations (IST, WAW) someday when I'm bored.

If it doesn't work or the prices in EGP change, please drop me a note and I'll fix it.

Thought I might transmit the results of some fare prowling...

Croatia (OW service ex-DBV to LGW, DUB, MAN, ex-SPU to LGW, seasonal) is shown on on various fare tables as still being a cheap place to start an xONEx. So I emailed the Zagreb BA office to enquire, and got a response that they don't offer RTWs since no OW carrier flies to ZAG. I replied that I thought that DBV or SPU would qualify, and could they consult the rates dept. Their (very prompt) email reply was that there were no fares in Amadeus (which I expected).

Rather than ask again for them to consult the rates desk I phoned the AA RTW desk, who are usually quite good at quoting fares, and the CSR there said they're showing the following DONEx fares (sorry, I didn't ask about L or A):

DONE3 USD4400
DONE4 USD5000
DONE5 USD5900
DONE6 USD6500

These are the same as were being charged in WAW (and a dollar more than IST) until earlier this year, so if there's been an adjustment to the general OW pricing then AA doesn't know about it.

AA doesn't have any codeshare flights operating from DBV (no same-day connections to the US) so it looks like we'd be in the same situation as IST - deal with BA or nobody. So who knows if BA has re-priced the xONExs in Euros or something, and just not told OW.

Still, DBV is an attractive place, relatively easy to get to (even by ferry from Italy) and might be worth looking at for RTWs.

I do wish, though, that one could count on a fare being quoted by one OW member as being definitive, rather than dealing with noobs in sales offices or rates desks located on Pluto.

Current taxes/surcharges ex-CAI

I had been figuring on taxes and surcharges adding about 10% to an AONE4 ex-CAI. However, I have just ticketed mine in the last day and on the base fare of EGP 41680 (which includes paying for an extra economy segment), the taxes/surcharges were EGP 5880-- i.e., more than 14%. It has been arranged directly with BA-CAI. Be prepared.

I managed to get my AONE3 ticketed the day before BA increased the fuel surcharge. Despite that, the tax part was about 12% of the ticket price. Significantly more than about a year ago.

It seems that at least on BA some of the charges are dependent on the class of travel. I'm not absolutely sure about that but a friend of mine got her LONE4 priced last week and the taxes&stuff were about half of my AONE3 taxes. Of course the routing affects this as well. Last March I booked a first class award ticket HEL-LHR-JNB // CPT-LHR-HEL and the extra charge was 170€. I asked BA why on earth it can be so much and they just explained "it is a first class ticket and it is more expensive than L or D".

That extra tax is GBP20 or USD 36 (and does not apply for transits, only departures from the UK). 90%+ of the "tax increase" is due to the fuel surcharges ... note that each airline has a different surcharge for the same route, AA is about half of BA or QF for example (depends on the route), so there can be several hundred USD difference in "taxes" just based on which carriers you are flying (for the same routing). Reissues will cause the new fuel surcharges to be charged.

I now have my quote for an AA ticket from Cairo.

AONE4
Basic fare EGP 40884

Total fare EGP 43863

Fees equal EGP 2979 or 8%. They are within 1% of last year. I'm pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting heavy fuel surcharges.

I was just quoted taxes and surcharges totalling EGP5533 on a EGP13590 LONE4 fare, or over 40% extra.

I am trying to find out why. The routing given was
CAI-LHR-YYZ-CUN-DFW-DEN-LAX-MEL-AKL-ZQN-SYD-JNB-CPT...NBO-LHR-CAI

One thought is QANTAS fuel surcharges.

Any ideas?

For completeness, these are the latest changes as published by CX. Nothing much new here except making explicit that voluntary changes to the first segment of an issued ticket requires a reissue at current terms (which I had always taken to be the implicit status anyway):

Oneworld Explorer Fare Levels Update 31 March 2006

"Fare levels ex Europe, Middle East, and Africa have been amended for sales on/ after 15 April 2006 for the Oneworld Explorer Fare (AONE*/DONE*/L#ONE*) Additional fare levels ex Europe, Middle East and Africa have also been introduced."

That's the message from Qantas already over 2 weeks ago. I haven't seen the new fares yet but I am sure someone with access to them, will post the info here shortly.

So I got confirmation from Emeco this morning
Code:
(prices EGP) x=3 x=4 x=5 x=6
AONEx 48700 60400 69300 81200

LONEx 14500 17000 19500 22100
Here is a comparison of the changes. Looks like the A/DONE3 anomaly has been addressed, along with a general increase across the board.

Code:
        AONE3 AONE4 AONE5 AONE6
20-Jan 35400 54900 63000 73800
