First OW trip (Circle Pacific): want help

For experienced OW travelers on FT: I'm a neophyte at OW alliance fares (except Visit Europe, which isn't relevant to this post). I'm looking at a possible November trip to Santiago and Australia, originating in Boston. I'd also like to stop in Hong Kong. A Circle Pacific trip seems a reasonable way to go.

I'm looking for ideas to maximize Q-miles, ideally on AA metal so I can upgrade.

Thanks in advance to all!

Where would you be originating from?

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough - Boston.

I know that Circle Pacific fares from the US must originate in a West Coast city. There's an add-on ($375 in back, $750 F/J) for East Coast origination I can use if I can't find a better cross-country fare.

Does any one know where I could find out the price in J for 22000 miles, 26000 miles & 29000 miles? Does it differ from the original location or it is one set price regardless the departing point?

Thanks

Price varies by country of origin.
Taxes and airline surcharges vary by airlines flown, ticketing airline, and airports arriving/departing from.

A subscription to Expert Flyer will reveal much of this information. It takes a bit of time to understand it, but it's most worthwhile.
