Downloadable timetable being withdrawn :(

Title says it all.

I paid one of my semi-regular visits to the Oneworld timetable page today and saw the following message:

"Effective 1 October 2016 downloadable timetables will no longer be available..."

Any ideas why this might be (other than the increasingly evident customer-unfriendliness of OW) ?

It seems like creating and posting a PDF would be 5 minutes work a month for them... but they can't even be bothered to do that

My guess is that the volume of traffic has dwindled to the point that it is no longer considered necessary.

A global, system-wide timetable is a pretty unwieldy beast anyway. I can't imagine that more than a handful of people actually download such a timetable.

Besides - it's patchy and incomplete.

I wouldn't like to have been on that A321 from Miami to Amsterdam last Friday!!!

There is no reason these days that the data feed, creation and upload of a complete alliance timetable can't be automated.

Just need a program that pulls data from the airline systems once every x days and feeds that information into a database and/or PDF generator.

There is also no reason why such an automated process cannot be suspended due to lack of interest.

(You don't actually think that this is currently compiled by hand?)

I just visited the oneworld timetable page and learned of this change. Very disappointing, although not surprising given AA's change last winter.

I used to start our family trip planning with the timetable document: "Where can we reach on a direct OneWorld flight" followed by "Where can we reach from a OneWorld european gateway that has a direct flight".

It's a lot more work to compile this information by hand using individual searches, so I'll really miss the PDF.

The final OW timetable can be downloaded from the QF site http://www.qantas.com/travel/airline...able/global/en
Link has gone from the OW web site

I reached out to Oneworld's FB message. They replied :

We have had issues with the supplier of this data and are looking for an alternative at present.

I'd think that alliances escape responsibility for the timetables' accuracy. ST was first to back off, now OW...

Yes, also the app have been withdrawn. I have it still installed, but it's inaccurate as it doesn't get updates any more.
