Any comments on this route (economy)
to OW Sapphires get to choose exit seat etc
Is there a proper lounge in CMB?
It seems the layovers are long 6 hours or 24 hours, options to run into town?

Not sure if Sapphires get to choose seats but ..
The CMB lounge is pretty good. Fresh food, alcohol (Lancone bubbly too) nap rooms and wi-fi. Clean and comfortable.
On stop overs of 8 or more hours, you are put up in a hotel. I have no idea what it is like because I rented a driver and car and drove around Colombo on a tour in late August when I had 9 hr stop over.
I flew business class so I got to choose seats. You can choose seats up to a point in economy.
