OneWorld pts are useless to get to Italy next year!!
Trying to help 2 friends get to Rome next April.
BNA--->FCO April 8-19, 2013, 2 seats, coach.
Have 175K AA, 196K BA miles.
BA.com routes through London and fees are almost the price of a coach ticket.
AA website says they offer seasonal non-stop service from ORD and JFK to FCO April 3-October 26 but I can't find any 20K 1 ways on AA metal the whole month. They route you BA through London which again incurs ridiculous fees.
I checked Milan as an alternate airport but the dates aren't available on AA.
Any other alternate airports to get to Rome? They could possibly leave a day earlier and/or come back a day later. Tour starts April 10 and ends April 19.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.

You want to use the cheapest ticket on the most direct routing and are upset their aren't any seats on the one day you need them? When using awards (for any airline or hotel) you need to have flexibility.
Also, you are going to need to call to access all the airlines award availability. For example, IB from MAD to FCO. Good luck!

The OP posted the same inquiry on the AA board, and is now ticketed using IB. Accordingly I'm closing this thread. Members are reminded that questions/issues involving a particular airline's FFP should be directed to that airline's board.
