I always thought it was common courtesy to reference a source if you posted something you did not find yourself. For example, last week I posted
this thread for a deal I found, having spent 10 minutes checking first to see if it had already been posted on FT. As
denCSA posted, this is now all over the interwebs, all subsequent to my post here. Most of the postings I looked at make no refernece to a source (unlike my posting, where I describe my source, which I could not link to since it was not an online source), with props due to
Dan's Deals, the lone one I saw referencing a source, which appears to be the original source.
What I've now realized is there are certain FT'ers who run well-known blogs who shamelessly rip stuff from FT without referencing the sources. I don't usually read those blogs, which I suppose is maybe why I haven't noticed before, but I am disappointed in those well-known folks who have apparently ripped off my information for their own.
Am I just wrong in thinking it's common courtesy, is it generally accepted that you should just rip stuff off without referencing a source? Seems like sloppy posting to me, but what do I know, I don't run a blog trying to make money, I only share information for free with my friends here on FT ... guess it's not good business to reference a source when you run a money-making blog.
