... I didn't know that Murray was contemplating not playing.
Andy Murray is optimistic that his wrist injury will have improved enough for him to play at Wimbledon. The British number one and number eight seed will make a final decision on Monday but says his rehabilitation work has been going well.
Murray said: "I hope I'll be competing. I've been playing some sets over the last few days and had no bad reaction. "Every day it gets better and if I have no bad reaction Sunday or Monday after practice then I hope to play."
Today:
Heavy rain at times in the north and west. Any bright or sunny intervals elsewhere will lead to scattered heavy showers developing, some with thunder and torrential downpours. Showers merging to longer spells of rain later, some heavy. Maximum temperature 19 deg C (66 deg F).
Tonight:
Rain, some heavy and prolonged, gradually clearing eastwards, all areas becoming dry by morning with some cloud breaks developing but becoming very windy. Minimum temperature 11 deg C (52 deg F).
I am still in dwontown London (about 1 hours away by the tube) and didn't bother yet, to go.
No play started yet so far! (and it may very well be a completly washed out day)!
She did not play last year, part of a self-imposed respite from tennis, and has not won here since her championships in 2002 and 2003. She arrives seeded seventh, yet British bookmakers have installed her as the favorite to win the women’s singles title.
“I’m still, I think, the best player out here when I’m playing well,” Williams said without a blink.
Oozing confidence, she added: “It’s not even a belief. It’s more of a fact.”
As Williams spoke, the world’s top-ranked player, Justine Henin, was defeating Wimbledon’s defending champion, Amélie Mauresmo, in a three-set final of the primary grass-court primer, a few miles away at Eastbourne.
“I’m glad they’re duking it out over there,” Williams said, as if sitting casually in a chair at Wimbledon is more suitable preparation than playing a championship match elsewhere."
My husband and I took a tour of Wimbledon at the end of April including of course, the Wimbledon Museum. I am very much looking forward to two weeks of grass court matches. Wimbledon is my favorite of the grand slams. Steeped in tradition, Wimbledon is the highlight IMHO of the year. It is the jewel of tennis. I was surprised how small in size The All England Club is compared with the grounds of the US Tennis Center. But The All England Club. is a members-only club. I thought this year Henman Hill would be renamed Murray Mountain but I guess not.
The ride on the tube was easy. Depart at Southfields and walk about 20 minutes.

Great match!! I don't know about your sunglasses smiley - it looks cold and dreary there!
How I long for that here in New York right now! Trust me!!
During that long rain delay, ESPN showed a good chunk of the 5th set of the 1980 McEnroe - Borg final. What a treat that was! The grass is pretty much all dirt. The racquets were wood. The contrast in players was stark. When was the last time you saw a player chip and charge?? You might see the occasional serve and volley at Wimbledon (and I stress "occasional") but never the chip and charge. McEnroe was doing it all. And Borg was as calm, peaceful, and powerful as you can get. Short points, no wasted long rallies, even Borg came to the net. But then, it stopped raining.
If anyone is planning on taking on Federer on grass, he can't do it on the baseline. Federer is too good. He needs to challenge Federer at the net both when serving and receiving. This will force Federer to respond in kind and then we'll see what kind of a #1 seed he is.
Looking forward to watching the end of the Henman match tonight! Indeed it was an upset.

I hear you on the heat - we are having a little break from it today here in Denver, but it has been HOT.
You will enjoy the conclusion of the match. The most interesting thing was Moya served and volleyed on something like 70% of his first serves. Both players were attacking, going to net, trying to pass, etc. It was like the good old days at Wimbledon!
So, pour yourself a glass of champagne, have some strawberries and cream, and fire up the Tivo. It was enjoyable!
