Nadal lost to some unknown french guy in the quarters at Queens Club. I wonder if this frenchman will have to qualify to play at Wimbledon? Unlike the other slams, the men must play a best of 5 sets to qualify. Gotta admire that!

... I wonder if this frenchman will have to qualify to play at Wimbledon? ...
Mahut Maintains Queen's Form at Qualifying
In the space of only 24 hours, Nicholas Mahut went from being centre stage at the Artois Championship at Queen’s (and being only one point away from taking the title from Andy Roddick) to being seen by a couple of hundred spectators at the Wimbledon qualifying event at Roehampton.
It may have been a bit of comedown for the Frenchman but he took it all in his stride as he launched his campaign for a place in the main draw of Wimbledon by defeating Noam Okun of Israel, 7-5, 6-3 in a match which understandably, didn’t have the same electric atmosphere as the previous day’s encounter, but still managed to enthral the small crowd ...
Prediction: Fed-Fed will not win Wimbledon this year.
it is easily understandable that a Sampras Fan hopes that Roger will not beat/meet another Sampras record soon - but anyway: head-to-head Federer leads 1:0 against Sampras (and that match was at Wimbledon).

Eh, that's really irrelevant. Federer played Pete while Pete was on the way out and Fed was on the way in. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that match, Rudi.
Further, if Fed-fed does get to 15 GS wins, that'll be a tremendous accomplishment and he'll hold the record. But making cross-generational comparisons is not really something that makes a lot of sense, in my opinion. For instance, can one really say that either Sampras or Federer was better than Laver? On what basis would one make that comparison?
Why the need to compare all the time? Both are obviously great players. If Fed can win the French and obtain the GS record, he'll go down likely as the best ever. I don't think this detracts from Pete's accomplishments at all. After all, a week ago Federer lost to Nadal. Should we assume Nadal is the better player?
Trying to read into one match in 2001(?), Rudi, is kind of silly.
while 'the whole of Switzerland' is only (they have no doubt about the winner ...) guessing what gag Nike/Federer will show at this years Wimbledon (last year it was the white jacket) - my personal prediction is
Federer 30%,
Djokovic 20%,
Haas (if not injured) 15%,
Roddick 10%,
Nadal 5%,
one of the many (about 10) others 20%.
... Should we assume Nadal is the better player?...
I don't assume but know that Nadal is on clay courts in the long run the better player (even if Roger might succeed once in the future).
History wise: a comparison with 'oldies' greats like Laver is unfair (not only was the competition in tennis much smaller then), but beside all equipment improvements, the personal fitness (the physics) of players in the last 20 years ist just way above what it was before 1970.
