Got a MR in July to MEX and a 6 day WE in Sept to JAC/BZN

Think I'll bank the leave for a 5-6 week trip in '09

aww

So your next trip isn't until Sept? No more 1K?

It's okay, I don't think I'll requalify for 1K either this year. I'm shooting for 1P if I'm lucky. If not, 2P here I come.

A 6 week vacation? OH MAH GAW! I can only dream of holding off my vacation days that long....that's like 2-3 years without a vacation - not happening....

but, having 6 weeks off is....nice

I have a trip to NYC next month, OGG in April, and HKT/NRT in June. Well, 2 of these trips are on UA miles and SPG points, so,

Got 1.5 weeks to blow ... use or lose ... then 4 that can be banked or used, but tons of work to do at my new job ... your trips sound pretty good

have been to HNL/ITO/KOA/LIH probably 15 times, but have not been to OGG ... any good ?

Well, HNL is like Las Vegas with a beach Lots of people, lots of things to do, but still lovely.

LIH is fantastic with the jungles and mountains -- lots of lovely trails for hiking...but a bit boring IMHO.

OGG is kind of in between. It's quiet, but there are things to do. The beaches are better in OGG IMHO. Water sports are definitely more fun in OGG too...like kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving etc. Oahu's shores are pretty much dying. Have you been to Hanauma Bay lately? It's really sad....but OGG still has amazing shores with lots of sea creatures. The first time I went kayaking there there were dolphins swimming with us! They were so playful it was AWESOME. The chances of having dolphins swim with you in HNL? Zero.

I think OGG is more relaxing - perfect for a couple. Also, there were a lot of awesome fruit stands in OGG...I loved the freshly squeezed sugar cane juice with fresh papaya...I never saw those stands while I was in Oahu or Kauai

Did some snorkling in Hanauma Bay 1.5 years ago, and it was CROWDED even getting there about 10AM ... can't be good for the critters

But I also like KOA/ITO as its pretty cheap and not tons of people

OGG seems to me to be crowded AND expensive, but its probably pretty nice. I'll have to check it out.

Went to Damnoen Saduak today.

Tonight, I want to look for getting a bed in an overnight train to Chiang Mai.
