I was sitting in the gate area reading a magazine, when I looked up there was a man taking my picture. The man was seated about 30 feet away. I immediated looked behind myself to see what he was taking a picture off but there was nothing behind me, just a blank wall. I was quite surprised he didn't put the camera down after I looked up.

I can't believe the number of Asian tourists who have asked to have their picture taken with them, or just gone ahead and started snapping photos; especially when we are out of the USA with them so there are even fewer fair skinned people around.
Yes, lots of times. When in Cambodia last year a monk came up to me and asked if he could take a photo with me. Sure, why not? We had a very good chat with no attempt at pushing his religion. Very welcome.
The funniest photo ever taken of me was in Sydney when two Japanese women run up to me, stood either side of me and got a photo taken. No scam or anything they just wanted a photo with my handsome face.
As other posters have mentioned I have no problems getting my photo taken because I am always taking photos myself.

When I was young, my sister and I were playing in the front garden of our home. A man pulled up in a black cab, slid down the rear window and asked if he could take our picture. Before either of us could say anything, there was a flash, a loud thank you, and then he sodded off.
A few months later, our Mum took us to the bookshop and lo and behold in the childrens section there was some kind of BBC childrens television book (perhaps Vision On, Animal Magic or possibly even Rolf Harris, I think) with a collage of different children and animals on the front cover - and there was my sister and I in a very prominent position with a Kangaroo superimposed between us.
Very strange indeed, but we bought the book and used it to learn the words to Tie me Kangaroo down sport.
I spent a semester as an exchange student in Heidelberg, Germany and grew a full beard while I was there. Several times, while walking through the center of the city, Japanese tour groups would ask me to stop and take pictures with them. I tried explaining that I wasn't German, but it didn't matter....

Ditto on the "getting your picture taken with/by strangers in Asia" phenomenon. Happens all the time. I have theories.
As for in the "west", I'm the pervert taking pictures of pretty girls every chance I get. Sometimes they notice, sometimes they don't. They're seldom amused.
It happens to me all the time in India. When I have been to locations that tend to attract domestic tourists, I am often a part of their sightseeing. Usually what happens is that a couple will ask if the wife can stand next to me while the husband takes our picture. Weird, but I have gotten used to it. And considering how many pictures I take of other people when I'm on vacation, I can hardly object to being viewed as something exotic that merits remembering!

Probably hundreds of times, considering how many random people show up in my pictures.
Maybe a couple dozen times if you're talking about an Asian tourist actually wanting me to pose or be in the picture with them. It would probably bother me if it was ever more than one or two people per trip, but for now I just smile and oblige.
