Post-eye-exam update: "You're perfect just the way you are" was the direct quote from the opthalmologist. I have 20x15 in both eyes. No glaucoma or any other weirdness. Damn, can't even get prescription sunglasses! Anyway, that exam was $172, so between the eye doctor, $117 worth of OTC products from Drugstore.com, $281 for the dentist, and a $4.99 receipt from CVS that I found lying around and submitted for reimbursement, that still leaves me with $377 in the FSA. I guess some lucky homeless or womens' shelter is going to end up with a lot of medicine donations from me this year!
Make Bambi eyes at your MD, and get a prescription for Viagra. Most medical plans don't cover, and it's USD $20/pill. Presuming you're to young to actually need it, it has recreational possibilities.

I'm not sure what Mr travelmad478 would say if I came home with a prescription for Viagra!

And you can't buy FSA-eligible items, manually submit the receipts, and then return the items?

Adjust your amount for next year, but if you donate to the women's shelter you'll feel good about the $377 since it won't be going to waste. And this year donations all-around are down quite a bit, so they'll probably be even more grateful.
FWIW - When I was leaving a former employer who had a fab medical/dental plan, I did what prncss674 did & had all my silver fillings replaced w/ porcelin. The silver ones were from younger days & the porcelin looked better. Knock on wood, the replacements have outlasted what their original lifetime was supposed to be. I don't regret making the switch either.
I've just relocated & am switching insurance plans. This state has the FSA stuff. I didn't really understand it & also was concerned I'd be putting $$ into it that would get wasted at year-end, so I went w/ the more traditional one.
You reminded me that I need to get my eyes checked & see the dermatologist. But I have to wait 90days after the new insurance kicks in since it doesn't cover preventative stuff for the first 90-days.
Hey wait - have you seen a dermo lately? Always good to go once/year for a mole check-up. Melanoma is not a fun thing. That might eat up part of the $377.

I've never had a cavity, so no potential to replace fillings. This whole thread is really making me realize how shockingly healthy I am relative to the general population!

Now that is a great idea. I have had a couple of moles removed in the past--more because I didn't like them than for any real melanoma scare--but I should probably go for another check-up. I'll get on that now!
I also got a new Malarone prescription to keep on hand, since I just used up my supply on a recent vacation in Laos. So now I'm down to $347.

You could have a cardiac calcium CT done, to see if you have any plaque buildup in your arteries & veins. I don't know how old you are but it might be a good idea. That would rack up a couple of hundred bux right there.

I guess everyone on your holiday gift list might receive a lovely first aid kit.
I can just imagine the looks on people's faces with that one. I don't really give physical gifts anyway--my people already have way too much junk, so from me they get things like a trip to the theater or a hockey game.
