NZ South Island - West Coast Hotels??
We (couple) are going to be spending several days traveling up the west coast of South Island this coming Christmas. We are already bit tardy, but can you share your favorite hotels/inns traveling up coast from Queenstown? Any recommendations greatly appreciated - and wish us luck!

In Glacier County, stayed at/liked "58 On Cron" in Franz Josef
Greymouth, stayed at/liked "The Alpine Rose Motel"
... but for Christmas time reservations, I'd not wait til the last minute !!

I traveled off-season without bookings (deliberately) and got the last room available for 200 km at the glaciers ... there are few rooms in this area as it is very isolated and seasonal. So book if you really want to stay. Don't expect the room to be the star, the outside scenery is. Sounds like you are traveling high season, might be sold out already
