Folks - you've all been gracious and wonderful. The info is very helpful.

Three cities in OZ and a lot of traveling in NZ. I was hoping I could convince my wife to pack light but looks like we'll need to be covered for a number of possibilities. Still - can't wait!

Thanks again to all.

I've been wearing three layers, vest, shirt & jacket, in Melbourne this spring week. It did warm up a bit yesterday evening.

Figured it was a mis-spelling but googled it. We call them flip-flops! Think I'll buy then in NZ. Thanks!

Haha me too! Never heard of Jandals. Funny some countries call them "thongs", which to Americans are panties with a string that goes up your buttcrack.
And don't even get me started on "Fanny-pack". I found out that one the hard way

Ah, we were calling them thongs long before you were using the word for that underwear.

I wouldn't worry about the jandals in New Zealand unless you're going somewhere really formal, eg a funeral or to meet the Prime Minister
