I've earned 4 SWUG certs from the 2008 Elite Extra promo, and I have to claim them by 4/30/09. Does anyone know if holding off to claim these certs gives them a later expiration date?
I'd like to use these certs in 2010, if the expiration date can be extended that far. Do these certs have a shelf life that starts when claimed, or do all certs expire on a certain date?
Programs: NW 1MM & PE, UA Premier, Hilton GE, SPG GE, PC PE & Ambass.

Last year, the later that these were redeemed, the later the expiration. I redeemed mine in late February and they were good until June of the next year (16 months later). Hard to know what will happen this year, but you might as wait to redeem them in late April.
I am personally holding off as I am hoping that if I wait until after EEP09 is announced, I might get different certs (valid on DL metal). It would really suck to get certs only valid on NW/KL, just to find that there are no more NW flights after September (or some other hypothetical date prior to the certs' expiration)

I redeemed mine from the 2007 promo in December of 2007 and the 2 that are left expire 4/30/2009, so perhaps they have a 16 month life from date of redemption.
I'd love to use the new ones in May/June of 2010, but as pointed out, a lot depends on if they are limited to NW/KL metal.
