10,000 EQM's received this morning in my NW account. Yay! I'm a Silver Elite and had 6,652 EQM's so far with fairly light travel this year - all on NW metal. Have one TATL booked next week and will be going over again this fall... so that's me requalified without having to mileage run! Woo hoo!!!
Well, I've maintained my SE status for the last 6 years now, and don't plan on losing it anytime soon - so it just means that I don't have to search out decent MR's at the end of the year now. So that's good for me... and my wallet.
10K posted this morning to my NW account... 13K EQM before, 23K now... on pace for about 30K without the promo, now have to decide / figure out if hitting 50K is worth it
This NYC based WP PE must be PL9 as I just got 15K EQM added to my WP account. For this I am happy, cause as another FTer posted, every person in the airport will be a SM Elite this/next year!
I guess I don't really care about how many are SE since about 90% of the domestic flights I take are either on CRJ's without FC, or TATL where they don't give complimentary upgrades anyway. I'm content (notice I didn't say ecstatically happy) with the expedited boarding lane and most of all, no checked baggage fees. If I was more focused on upgrades, I'd MR up to GE I guess...
Just to add another datapoint, I checked my account this morning and saw 10K EQM posted.
I'm a current Silver Elite, and 19,472 EQM prior to the bonus miles deposit. Pretty light travel this year with most of my flights coming to and from ALB.
Just looked at my NWA account and received 10,000 EQM's. This put me in ear shot of Platinum for the year. They were EQM, not banked miles, no complaints here.
+1 I think all you had to do to receive these miles is fly in 2009. I checked my wife's account and nada. But she hasn't flown since 2006. Now I'm only 2,200 miles to GE.

I guess I'm joining the club - got 15K posted last night. I was on the verge of calling NW to ask about this thing as I watched this thread over the last 2 days but no more. I feel like the goofy lady in the Ikea commerical that wants to silently sneak away thinking its some sort of mistake. Even now I'm saving a screen shot of this in case its snatched back.
I'm truly stunned that they are just randomly doing this out of no-where. Its got some pretty far reaching implications. Given the postings I have to assume that this has been given to a broad cross-section of flyers so inflation of the elite ranks seems somewhat certain. This thing put me over the plat threshold although I've already got enough booked that I would have reached it in about a month anyway.
So now the question in my mind is - what are the parameters for the mysterious 4th Elite level mentioned in passing in Sky Magazine? The strongest rumors are that its going to be a 125K EQM deal but nothing offical.
For those trying to figure out who's getting what bonus and why here are some basics for me - member since 1992 but only flew once on the number in 92 until I flipped to NW from CO in 2005 on the back of that year's double miles promo (fleeing CO's evil 50% EQM policy shift). Promo got me to Gold in '05, got plat in '06 and been plat ever since. Was at 69K EQM with enough booked to reach 76K in Aug. Fly mostly K fares as my company is very tight fisted on the $$ although I did fly a couple of Q MRs during this year's earlier EQM promo. I had a WP visa with enough spend on it to reach the 10K EQM promo before the divorce but that 10K hadn't posted yet. I do have the Gold version of the new Amex card but its very recent. I've got a linked DL account that's had no action in it since 1995 other than the Amex miles-no sign of the DL version of this phenon either. It was basic medallion in the 90's before I flipped to CO (back then DL's program was very different and they were starting to drop DFW). Lastly my total flying this year is actually at a stronger pace than last year so this thing doesn't seem to be one based on a 'make up' as some emails from NW seemed to suggest to me.
Oh - no email from NW on this - I see some of the posters have received something.
Guess its time to keep a strong eye on that 4th level. There is definitely going to be more swelling of the elite ranks after this.
