non-elite companion is splitted from pnr and linked

for upgrade purposes, are the chances lower if non-elite companion/s is/are splitted from a reservation but linked? chances for both the elite member and non-elite.

Only chance is a BF upgrade. The companion must be in the same PNR to be upgraded with a PE at the PE's upgrade window.

In his case as a Silver elite, not a change for companion upgrade.
You will have to split to stand a change yourself.

Linking is just notes on the two PNRs. It's really only useful during irregular operations so they known to you're flying together.

another question, as an SE, can you still select seats of your companion even if you're on different PNR? through phone or email maybe?

I would suggest that the OP takes some time and thoroughly reads the NW forum. Almost all the questions that have been asked in the last few days have been answered numerous times in the last year.

You will need to select their seat before you split and hope that NW doesn't remove them from the premium seat. If you have already split the PNR, the elite line can put them in a premium seat but only before you have been upgraded to F. After you have been upgraded they cannot put your companion in a premium seat.

A similar question, on TPAC, can SE call the elite line and request to have the companion (different PNR, booked deparately) to be seated in the exit row?
