Booking ticket with 10 months btw outgoing and return starting in Sept.
I want to book a trip ATL-JNB or NYC-JNB outgoing Sept 1-2 and returning sometime in June of 2010. My wife and I are going on RTW for the 10 months. Problem is can't book the return flight. I would like to book one of these flights using NW miles and purchase one. My options seem like 1) wait to book this flight until Jul - Aug of this year which reduces liklihood of getting award seat that late and at the mercy of fair gods 2) book now w/ alt return dates and change later for penalty ($100 for miles ticket ??? for ticket purchased). Any other options that anyone can think of????

if you're doing a 10 months trip, why are you so fixed on the dates for the outbound, if you have a leeway of a few more days on your out bound, there's very little chance that all of those dates will be out of W bucket seats.
