I wonder how these people get in and out of their community now. My guess would be flying into McGrath and then taking a four-wheeler (in the summer) or a snowmachine (in the winter) the 17 miles down to Takotna. They may even be pretty much stuck in the spring, when the ground is too muddy to support either mode of transportation.
Not exactly an easy way to get around...
Not saying they deserve a $21 million airport, since it's their choice to live there--just pointing out that it's not like they have an easy alternative of hopping in the car and driving to the nearest airport...
Let's see. At least three TSA employees, checkin agent, gate agent, baggage handler, airport administrator, custodial staff... in no time the entire town will be employed by the airport!

Not to mention the construction jobs.
Probably no TSA employees since undoubtedly the airport will be served by 9 passenger or smaller planes. The check-in agent, gate agent, and baggage handler will likely be the same person.

If so, another good reason to fly out of Takotna.
We did undergo TSA screening at Canyonlands Field in Moab Utah after taking a bump off a Great Lakes flight during a stop. They were exceptionally thorough, since it wasn't exactly a high-volume operation.
Maybe there's a FT "smallest-airport-with-TSA" thread.
