You've chosen to give up on getting rid of TSA. There's really nothing I can do for you, other than suggest you find cheaper and biometric-free ways of copping out in the future.

Did you give these banks your iris scans and fingerprints? A company going out of business is hardly an indication that your information is safe.

Actually, I do fly during "peak" hours. If your wait has been longer, it's one more reason you should be calling for the destruction of the TSA instead of rolling over for them via Clear.

PS: I've never waited more than 3 minutes at either elite lane in DEN.... using Clear to mitigate the effects of TSA wasn't in anyone's best interest.
Well, as a weekly traveler, I can say that I have saved many hours over the last four years using the clear lane. Not that the wait was always long at the regular security lines as most of the time it probably wasnt, but I eliminated that need to arrive early 'just in case' security was backed up. Instead of trying to be at the airport an hour before my flight, I was able to walk out the door from my home or office an hour before and be confident that I would arrive at the gate almost precisely at boarding time. So for me, it made a huge difference. I was one of their first 1000 signups when Clear began operations in MCO and am certainly another that will miss it terribly.
It was much more than 'a little convenience', it meant some extra sleep before many early morning flights, and a good deal of extra productive hours before leaving a job in the afternoon or evening. (Not necessarily in that order - in case my boss is reading this.)
Ditto ditto ditto. I will miss CLEAR. It helped tremendously in ATL and BOS - my two primary locations. Sad to see it go and bummed that I now have to arrive an hour in advance instead of parking right around the time boarding began
I wont miss Clear. Those people who benefited from Clear are probably Elite, and therefore you were just paying for a service that used to be free (elite security lines).
At least, thats what happened with Delta Medallions.

Not true! Know how many GM and PMs are in ATL?!?!? Having CLEAR above and beyond that made life SO much easier. In BOS there are no elite lines; so having CLEAR was the *only* way to bypass grannie and the kids on their way to Disney. Same for IND.
Those were my three biggest CLEAR markets that I traveled every month, and I'm sure those aren't isolated examples.

SJC and OAK have no elite security lines for most airlines (AA does have one at terminal A in SJC). These were my primary locations for clear use. Let me tell you - OAK especially can be a zoo without them. I'm talking lines wrapped all the way around the baggage claim level, and no elite lines. SJC can be variable, and since I'm flying just about every airline OTHER than AA clear gave me some much welcome predictability. At SFO admittedly the savings was usually minimal, although sometimes even the elite line can take 10 minutes.
Oh well....I guess I'll have to re-up my Marquis Jet card since CLEAR isn't here to carry my shoes anymore
Seriously, I will miss the program at SJC because of the unpredictability of the lines there. When it was spring break, the line would stretch into the garage. Hopefully that will get fixed when the Terminal A overhaul is complete.
OAK was not as bad. Although I have to admit that I probably didn't mind waiting at the lines in OAK because I was thankful that I didn't get carjacked along Hegenberger.
I wonder if Court TV will cover the bankruptcy proceedings

A message posted on the "FLO Card" site (a competing product). Their customers got screwed because, iirc, they used the CLEAR lines.

NEWS
On June 22nd our competitor and fellow Registered Traveler Service Provider, Verified Identity Pass (also known as Clear), announced immediate cessation of operations at all of their airports. Flo is currently working with other participants in the industry as well as the Transportation Security Administration to analyze the implications of this announcement and to formulate a plan for the advancement of the program. We have no additional comment at this time but would expect to release further information pending a public statement from the TSA.

I aways disliked Clear. Flying from LGA, I noticed that the DL/NW elite lines suffered once Clear lines were installed. They over the elite lines and started charging a fee for them
Maybe Clear helped some people at some airports, but they hurt me. I am glad to see them go.

I join Spiff in celebrating the demise of Extorted Traveler. The TSA is run by goons, staffed by morons and operated on totalitarian principles. It's anti-democratic to allow anyone to buy their way to an easier time with the jackbooted thugs. The more we get frustrated at their ineptitude and uselessness, the more political pressure we can bring to bear to break them.
And yes, perhaps now Orlando will finally install elite lines rather than "pay us to cut in line" BS.

Umm ... Go to an airport, stand next to an old clear lane, and wait for people to walk up who haven't heard the news!
