Delta: Body found in airplane's wheel well

ATLANTA (AP) -- A body was found in an airplane wheel well after a Delta Air Lines flight from Africa landed in Atlanta on Friday morning, airline spokeswoman Betsy Talton said.

The same thing happened on an SAA flight about 18 months back -- a stowaway was killed while fleeing Dakar.

I wonder if this strategy could work if you had i) serious cold weather clothing and ii) an oxygen tank/mask.

You'd have to have some pretty serious (and expensive) gear to withstand that kind of bitter cold. I've seen the outside temperature as cold as -75 degrees C. For that kind of money, I'd prefer to ride inside the plane.

That makes sense. If you have the resources to obtain the highly specialized gear you would need, you probably have the resources to flee in something more comfortable than the landing gear well.

I was just thinking that. A coach ticket is surely cheaper than the equipment that would be needed to survive.

It has happened at LHR when a frozen body would be dropped in the car park of a supermarket at Richmond when the wheels were put down
