Body parts fall from plane approaching JFK
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Pieces of a man's body fell from the wheel well of a South African Airways passenger plane bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday and landed in the yard of a suburban home, police said.
A U.S. customs inspector discovered the rest of the man's body at 7:30 a.m. (1130 GMT) after Flight 203 landed in New York from Johannesburg, South Africa, said a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees area airports.
A South African Airways spokeswoman said it appeared to have been a stowaway attempt. She said the plane had stopped in Dakar, Senegal, on its way to New York.

True. It's oftern -50 degrees at 35,000 ft. There is also a loss of consciousness and ultimate death after a certain time above 15,000 ft. or so. A few years ago, a Learjet carrying golfer Payne Stewart went through sudden decompression and neither crew nor passengers donned their Oxygen masks (or couldn't get supplemental Oxygen). Eventually, an F-16 was sent to investigate and all the pilot could see was ice covered windows on the Learjet. The aircraft eventually crashed after fuel exhaustion.
This is why when a crew memeber leaves the cockpit during flight, the other flying crewmember must put on his /her oxygen mask.
So....if the landing gear strut didn't kill him (which it did) the altitude / oxygen issue would have.
Have a nice day

What is sad is that someone had to take extreme measures to escape oppression and a horrible life, that they were willing to risk their life for a better one, and then people have to post comments about it as if it was all a joke.
Do you guys know that his spine was still attached to the leg in the people's yard? Just think what it felt to find those parts in the lawn or at the airport. And you joke about it.
I think there are a lot better places to joke about the death of people than here on Flyertalk.

Actually, the plane failed to pressurize. So the sudden decompression issue isn't true at all. Why the pilot did not realize this, who knows for sure.

How do you know it wasn't a terrorist attempting to stow away and cause damage? What if it was and it was determined he was attempting to blow the plane up that way? Sad that he died that way? Sure. If he was trying to get away from his country in this manner then that's sad. But come on, any logical person has to know stowing away in the wheel well of a jumbo jet can't be the smartest safest way to depart a country. Should he be entered into the Darwin Awards? You bet!
