"A man walked through a security gate at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Friday, forcing all passengers in the airport's largest terminal to be rescreened.
Airport spokeswoman Jeanine L'Ecuyer said around 5:30 p.m. a man walked through the security area, though she had no other details on the incident."
No details... because the TSA has no clue how it happened, how to prevent such incidents, and how to appropriately respond to them when they do.
Attention terrorists: the TSA has provided a perfect blueprint for you. 1)Have someone "breach" "security". 2)Detonate a device outside "security" during the ensuing clueless terminal dump. Admiral Loy is happy to provide you with this nearly-foolproof plan. Have a nice day!

Sure, they rescreened everyone, but how about the weapons that were "hidden" in the terminal. A search that could take the better part of a day to do reasonably well, or days to do close to perfectly.
Come on guys, let's get real!
For those that are challenged... envision someone with bad guy items that just walks through security, and the TSA can not find him. During the few minutes it takes to alert the authorities, the bad guy "hides" his stuff. And now he has the stuff inside the secure area... duh!
Yep, I was there. We were on the plane (Early Boarding because of Wheelchair). Gate Agents came on and said that they were trying to keep the Wheelchair people from being rescreened. 5 minutes later TSA came and made us go get rescreened. After Rescreening we all had to congregate in the corridor between A Concourse and B Concourse while TSA and PHXPD checked out the A concourse.
TSA was able to rescreen everyone in about an hour.
But it was a real Cluster F***.
By the way it was a TSA agent that said he/she MAY have seen a knife. But was not sure and they could not identify who supposedly had the knife. But there may have been no knife!!!

Even if there was a knife, it's not a credible threat to warrant a terminal dump.
And if you compute the probability of the knife's presence and the probability of the person being a terrorist and able to use it to terrorize, the result is such a laughably small number that Admiral Loy deserves to be fired for this incident, just as if his policies cleared the terminal for the possiblity of an asteroid colliding with it.

Spiff....you are absolutely right. Terminal dumps because someone "thought" they might have seen a knife are assinine at best. If that had been me, I would have been sure that I saw one and stopped everything right then, or sure that I had not and continued what I was doing. Fortunately I do not have to do that anymore.

And as we see in the Baltimore college-student case, stuff cen be hidden for 5 weeks before it is discovered!
