Longshoremen in Hawaii have approved going on strike, unless they get a wage increase from the $97k-$127k/year they now receive. The folks at Costco are out of rice and toilet paper as of 10-19-99.

Yes, what a potential mess. Hoarding of all these items is the norm right now. Over 90% of "stuff" on the islands gets there by ship.

I thought I'd heard they will try to resume negotiations Saturday. Hopefully a full blown strike can be averted.
