Airline gives baby born on flight and mother free flights for life
Quote:
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) – A baby boy who made a surprise arrival on board an AirAsia flight this week will be given free flights for life with the budget carrier, as will his mother, the airline said Friday.
AirAsia said 31-year-old passenger Liew Siaw Hsia went into labour on Wednesday's flight from the northern island of Penang to Kuching on Borneo island.
The aircraft made an emergency diversion to the Malaysian capital but the baby arrived just before landing, delivered by a doctor who was on board and who was assisted by the airline's flight attendants.
Programs: DL PM, RW, CRC. Platinum and Gold are ok, but I prefer Limestone and Marble.

MODS: move this thread to the Mileage Run forum. Lots of FT'ers will get pregnant to take advantage of this deal. (Or move it to OMNI, where other FT'ers will offer to help assist in initiating the pregnancy, in exchange for free flights).

A thread seeking a product to induce labor in flight belongs in Travel Products, doesn't it?

I wonder what the deal really is. Can they fly on any flight as long as seats are free? Any advance purchase needed? A few years back a woman got free flights for life on Ryanair but FR didn't honour their commitment and mr o'leary was even (as is often the case) hostile and rude towards the winner.. Luckily she won in court though:

Yeah, I think this sets a bad precedent. I thought airlines frown on pregnant women flying when they are so close to delivery.
Maybe so but this baby was born 11 weeks early so it wasn't exactly close to the mother's due date. I don't think anyone wants to give birth so prematurely for free flights or let's hope not. Hopefully all is well with the baby.
Location: In HNL for the last six weeks and seemingly forever

Since it's NFL Sunday, and I'm in a betting mood, I place the over under on the number of flights mom+kid will take on this carrier in the future at 2 1/2, and I'll take the under.
