And this is the best itinerary you found this far out? Is it on the same ticket?
5 hours LGA-JFK is doable and has some margin to spare. However, it's going to be Friday afternoon (more traffic). It will be winter (slower traffic, possibly more traffic for shopping?). And it will be Friday the 13th
Do you feel lucky?

Thanks. I dont think There aren't any better options to JFK departing from BOS on star alliance on 12/13. Unless I want to route through IAD which just seems silly.
Or take the Q33 bus to Roosevelt Avenue and grab the E Train to JFK. That will cost you $7.25 ($2.25 MTA + $5.00 Airtrain)
Just a heads-up in case the OP follows your advice. The E doesn't go to JFK directly. Take the E eastbound (not toward Manhattan) to the station called Sutphin Blvd/JFK Airport and take the elevator to the top so you can walk over the LIRR tracks to the Airtrain.

Cab will run you $35-$40. Or take the Q33 bus to Roosevelt Avenue and grab the E Train to JFK. That will cost you $7.25 ($2.25 MTA + $5.00 Airtrain)
NYCTA fares are going up 25 cents/ride before the OP will be traveling. And there will be a $1.00 "new card" fee when buying a card at a Metrocard vending machine, or from a subway station agent. (Pre-packaged cards bought from a retail agent -- like a Hudson News kiosk at LGA -- will be exempt from the fee.)
But I agree that the OP should explore connecting via EWR, PHL, or even IAD, before choosing a LGA-JFK transfer. This is especially true if the OP will have checked baggage.

Off topic, but will that "new card fee" be waived for those whose current card is about to expire? Typically, the machine just pops out a new card whose expiration date is now a year later.

Just curious, how is EWR and easier transfer to JFK than LGA?
I would guess that one might suggest IAD, PHL or ORD for mileage run purposes or getting another leg on the trip for elite status.

I am sure that there are worse inter-airport transfers somewhere in the world, but I can't think of one worse than LGA-JFK. Somewhere from 35 mins to 4 hours depending on weather, traffic, construction & accidents.

Its award travel and I wanted to get the SN's direct flight, so JFK is the only option. Perhaps, its worth changing to the BOS-->IAD-->JFK. I was thinking that adding another flight adds its own risk of delays/cancellations.

4 hours? I guess if the OP takes a taxi or limo during an historically horrific rush hour or perhaps decides to hitchhike.
Take the Q33 to the E to the Airtrain—the OP will have boatloads of time.
