BOS-HKG on Cathay Pacific begins May 2015

According to Airline Route, subject to government approval, Cathay Pacific will begin service to Logan Airport in 2015. Massport has not made a press release, but I think Airline Route has a good reputation. Fights are bookable on CX.com.

Airline Route link

Some highlights:

- service begins May 2, 2015
- using 4-class 77Ws
- 4x weekly
- flight leaves BOS at 1:45 AM
- will be longest flight from BOS

CX812 HKG 1800 – 2130 BOS 77W x357
CX811 BOS 0145 – 0535+1 HKG 77W x146

This has been rumored for a while. If approved, another nice addition for BOS. JL, TK, EK, CM, HU and PE have all added service recently.

Great news! ^

Hopefully the BA lounge will stay open to accommodate the new CX flight.

EK and TK leave just before midnight. CX will likely be the last flight out of E, but B6 might have some very late ones too. Of course, there are cargo flights at late hours, as well.

I think CX will most likely use the BA lounges, but I don't think anything has been announced.

The $754 introductory fare I was emailed from CX seems like a good price.

The broader media is picking it up. Wonderful news, indeed.

...And reason to keep building my AA and US stashes, hopefully to be "+1" before the new AA lowers the boom.

Booze served until flight departs

I have read some threads about how the lounge has been shelving the booze at 11 p.m. Here now and happy to report the liquor license has been extended till the flight leaves. Thank God.

Great to hear. Speaking of, how's the lounge (never flown F or J out of Bos), and how have the loads been thus far?

Mixed review

Just completed BOS/HKG round trip in July. Outbound took 14hours instead of 16. Return flight was two hours longer than 16, an hour delay at HKG didn't help.
Seats (all?) were reassigned at HKG for unknown reasons. Got an upgrade to Premium Economy though!

Both flights were full. Attendants spoke multiple Chinese dialects. One attendant made frequent visits to a toilet close to my seat. I suspect that she was cleaning it.

Meals were so so.
