The whole project may be upended by today's AA/US merger terms which would create a single airline dominating both ends of the terminal with UA in between with any UA/AC connections going past several AA gates. The new AA also agreed to divest two more BOS B gates.

It's hard to imagine "the whole project" being "upended." Certainly AA and US will want to consolidate their operations in Terminal B, but that shouldn't impact UA's relocation from Terminals A and C. If anything, completion of the Terminal B construction should make this all much easier. Also, today's announcement was hardly earth shattering. All parties knew that a merger was possible (probable) and would result in AA and US seeking to consolidate operations. I don't think anyone at MassPort or the airlines is having a ... moment over this.

The real question is how (whether?) the footprint of US/UA/AA at new Terminal B will change after the US/AA integration is completed a couple of years from now. For US and AA to have a contiguous footprint, UA would probably have to move a second time.

Yet I'm confident meetings to try to negotiate the consolidation are in the process of being scheduled and the timetable for completion will definitely depend on the final shape of the project, mainly if United will end up in the center or trade for a wing.

According to the article in the business section of today's Globe (slightly condensed):
"AA and US are both in Terminal B, on opposite sides of a parking lot that divides the terminal. Massport is working to connect the concourses behind security checkpoints by March. UA, which has been working out of terminals A and C since its merger with CO, is scheduled to move in. The airport has not said how it will handle the logistics after AA and US merge or what will happen with the two gates the airlines give up under the settlement. But Massport said there will be room for new carriers and the growth of current airlines."
So it sounds like United's move should happen in the Spring. At that point JetBlue will expand into United's old gates in Terminal C and will expand its service - who knows to where, perhaps to DCA or LGA if they are the successful acquirer of the slots that AA/US have to divest?
At some point in 2014 we should learn new AA's plans for Boston, with Massport being part of the conversation since they would have to facilitate any moves within Terminal B. Perhaps AA's obligation to divest two gates will cause them to focus on the whole situation in Terminal B and come up with a comprehensive plan sooner rather than later? Fingers crossed...

A new, expanded security checkpoint on the American side of terminal B just opened. There are now six lanes of security, and that represents only half of the checkpoint. The other half is still under construction. A TSA agent said that there would be 12 lanes of security when the other half opens. This will presumably be the primary entry point for United passengers after United moves to B.

He's the owner of Bob's Country Bunker:
Jake: Your union cards. May I see your union cards please?
Tucker McElroy (leader of the Good Ol' Boys): S'pose we ain't got no union cards and we go in there and start playing anyway? Now what are you gonna do about that? You gonna stop us? Stein? You're gonna look pretty funny trying to eat corn on the cob with no f*#!ing teeth.
Jake: Listen, let me talk to Bob, the owner, see if we can put your band on contract waivers for tonight. I don't want you to move from this spot. Just let me handle this.
Elwood: We'll, uh, we'll talk to Bob.

FFG and United Airlines WeCare are pleased to pre-announce the first official Mini-DO of 2014, set for Boston on March 29, 2014. Although details are still to be worked out, it will include (but not necessarily limited to!) the new terminal airport tour that afternoon followed by dinner at a yet-to-be determined venue.

Today's Globe has an article describing United's upcoming move, operations and space in new Terminal B, including some photos of the construction. The article says that United will commence flight operations from B on 4/30.
It also says that United will have ten gates in B vs. its existing 13 gates in A and C. There is no mention of whether United's schedule will be reduced or whether it just needs fewer gates than it now has to operate the same schedule.
