Smile Boston - 'Old Ironsides' sets sail in Massachusetts

CNN: 'Old Ironsides' sets sail in Massachusetts

As a Navy Chief and a tourist, I love going to visit the USS Constitution - definitely a favorite when I'm in Boston. My friends and family enjoy visiting her as well. Even better, guided tours are free!

Quote:
The Constitution set out on Boston Harbor in Massachusetts to commemorate the 200th anniversary of her victory over a British frigate during the War of 1812. The battle earned Constitution her "Old Ironsides" nickname.

I was flying into BOS as the USS Constitution was sailing through the harbor on Sunday. I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of her from above, but here she is as seen from the runway. Old Ironsides is the ship to the left of the plane. There is also another tall ship in the picture - a schooner with red sails - to the right of the plane. Sorry about the image quality, but it was still pretty cool to see!

Nice shot for not being prepared!

The ship with red sails is a regular in Boston Harbor. I imagine it's a tourist ship as I see it almost every time I'm near the waterfront.

Yep. It's a charter boat.
