But a Charger is a FullSize - 300 is a Premium however.
DCA in particular tends to steer you towards one car or a choice of 2-3 cars when you have a reservation for a full-size with Alamo. With a reservation for a premium, they pretty much respond "what kind of car do you want?"
Pretty good ride overall! Had satellite radio (XM), averaged over 30mpg with ease and was closer to 33-34 on highway, manumatic shifter for those who like extra control, passengers remarked that rear seat room was spacious and comfortable, and it has a huge trunk. Had an "ECO" setting that you could toggle on/off but had no idea what effect it might have. Play with the "TRIP" button on the steering wheel and it will cycle through additional displays on the odometer. Dashboard display at full power at night was a really bright blue but if you knock it down a few bars it's perfect.

What exactly are the Fullsize and Premium "Elite"? I wa shoping to be able to scoop a Volvo (or even one of the BMW 3 series) on my next trip. Is tehre any way as a an executive you can reserve a class that you stand a chance to get one? Or are those ONLY available to Executive Elite customers?

Some locations do have full size elite as reservable, will be listed as Lincoln MKS or similar, but they are not always available and usually expensive. Best thing is to book luxury and hope for the best. Sometimes they will let you take a BMW or similar with a luxury reservation, sometimes there will be an upsell. It depends on the location and the people working.
I gave this thread a long overdue update. I've removed some cars from the list that are long out of production, updated the examples as per the US/Canadian sites respectively, and added my own experiences and some from the previous 2-3 pages that hadn't been added to the list.
Here's a few oddities I am aware of:
Dodge Durango is apparently now a Premium Crossover, as per the rental receipt I just checked (EDIT: USA fleet list now reflects this change)
The M-B C250 is a Fullsize Elite and yet the C300 is a Fullsize Special...if anyone has rented these recently or still has their receipt online can check that would be awesome
There are two Luxury SUV categories listed on the National USA website, one with the Lincoln MKX and the other with the Navigator. Not sure how two categories by the same name (and then techincally, the same ACRISS code) can exist, but likely just a misnomer on the National website
Thanks everyone for your posts and keep 'em coming!

Oooh - who has the X1? I have looked at those, but I am really unsure about being able to live with such a complicated car.
I am also still (after 4 years) confused on exactly what a fullsize executive (GXAR) is. Is that a full size car that only executives can rent? luxury? Most airports I go to, no matter what class you say you reserved they point you to the executive aisle when you ask.

I picked up the X1 at YVR. A GXAR is a Fullsize Elite, which is just another category for a Premium/Luxury type car. You don't need any special status to drive one, and in fact GXAR is a reservable category at some major US airports now. Otherwise you'll usually find GXAR classed vehicles in Premium or Luxury stalls at Emerald Reserve locations. RARELY you might find one on the ES, in which case it's up for grabs.
That being said, some locations will only feature the most "basic" Premium/Luxury cars (i.e. Chrysler 300/Lincoln Town Car) and charge an upgrade for anyone who wants an Elite car.
