Got one today. Never saw this before. Is this new?
I got one too when my car was due back yesterday. I thought it was something to do with the fact that I added a day to the reservation during the time I had the car, but maybe it is a new feature.

I agree, it's annoying as hell. Makes you wonder what bright-eyed kid who never rented a car in his/her life came up with this idea and pitched it to National management.
I suspect you could call and "opt out". But I also suspect it's an "all or nothing" opt out which means you would also lose the reservation reminders as well as the emailed receipts after turn-in.

See, I don't receive any receipts after I return, which would actually be very useful. I just get the "your car is waiting" emails on the day of rental and the "your car is due back" emails.

Agreed the 'your car is due back' email is pretty useless when I have a flight to catch!
I think having a return receipt by email would be very useful as well, I used to receive a one-liner 'thank you for returning the car' email not too long ago (2010/2011?).
