I'm picking up a car from the Emerald Aisle this Sunday evening - I just have regular Emerald Club membership. Are there ever Mustangs / Chargers in the regular aisle? If not - does anyone know what the typical price would be to upgrade?

I've seen chargers at JFK and LGA and thought I saw one in MCO so it's possible a Charger could be there. Did see a Charger in the EA aisle in LGA a few days ago when I passed by for what's it's worth. Never seen a Mustang and I would think because it's summer it wouldn't be even in the ES. In NYC they tend to upcharge them

LAS has typically had good vehicles in my experience, but I also seem to luck out a lot. You probably have the best chance of finding a Charger on the EA; most likely won't be a HEMI, but possible.
I've seen Mustang and Camaros on the Executive Aisle quite often and have seen them very rarely on the EA. I've picked up a 5.0 Mustang Convertible twice from the Executive Aisle. Being it's now full fledge summer weather, if one is put out, chances are that they will go quickly.
Go luck and happy hunting

I had a Camaro from the ES in LAS last month, and from EA in LAS last Oct. They also had Chargers on the EA last month. Over the years, I've had good luck getting better cars from LAS' EA.
Car rentals are down a bit in LAS now that most strip casinos charge for parking. It's putting a dent in the rental demand.

I'm heading out to LAS in middle of August for a 3 day jaunt out in Vegas with the lady. Reserved already and since I do have EC status I'll see what I find out there in the ES aisles. We're fortunate enough to be able to do a Tuesday-Friday stay so this hopefully should be great for selection (avoiding the Fri-Mon rush) and also we're avoiding the weekend of the big Mayweather fight.
Will update once I arrive in LAS.
This is also my first time booking National through Chase UR portal....I've heard that it shouldn't be a problem when I head straight to the ES aisle....as my EC number is on the chase reservation and they should have my DL number anywway.

Renting from LAS this weekend: I wonder what is the likelihood of having premium brand SUVs (Audi/BMW/Infiniti/Lincoln/Cadillac) in ES (or EA)... If nothing available, is it possible to grab one of these from premier selection or Alamo without paying up (if so, how much?) Would it help if I book a midsize SUV vs. midsize rate?
I'd say unlikely from reading recent reports. Aside from Grand Cherokee or an Explorer. But it may depend on the date/time too.
I'm arriving Tuesday very early morning at about 730-8am, and so I'm hoping for a very good selection of all kinds of vehicles ....especially SUVs...hopefully premium.
There have been reports of people asking nicely and have been either gotten free upgrades or discounted upgrades.

You're missing the point. You've now posted in a public forum that you will likely be violating the rental agreement by operating the vehicle outside of paved road conditions. To do so would make you equally culpable as the renter who enters the vehicle in a mudding competition. If that's a risk you're willing to take, of course you're welcome to do so. Just know the potential consequences include placement on the DNR list, nullification of insurance coverage in the event of an incident, and possibly other issues.
Also keep in mind National does monitor this board.

But nevertheless your point is VERY well taken. The normal rental agreement (which we all should read...but like your smartphone or iTunes user agreement...few will read or understand in its entirety) definitely prohibits such activities and I have since become much more careful as I do frequent other forums (cars and whatnot) and you're right in that companies do monitor these old-time social media communities. And by careful I mean NOT violating any rental agreement clauses.
I do appreciate your comment and words of warning and while I am not a lawyer, I do vehemently disagree that I characterized myself as being "likely" to violate any rental provisions. My post earlier did express an interest in off-roading certainly but given your warnings and some consideration (and thankfully no pre-cogs enforcing criminal fore-thought...) I am most definitely not planning to violate any rental agreement with National.
The draw to SUVs as rental options include roominess and the better view from higher ride height. We're spending a nice little getaway in Vegas for a few days and the comfort of a larger vehicle should be a refreshing break as well as navigate any less than perfect paved roadways. Certainly I'm less inclined to own a SUV vs a sedan given the increased cost of owning such types of vehicles.

On the drop-off on Sunday around 2PM, there were 6 cars in the Executive Selection Area. One truck and five mid/full size cars, that was it.
