I was in AZ last weekend and Signed up for the UA card.
Unfortunately unlike PatMike my WaMu branch has been unable to help me with anything regarding tis account as it is not integrated into their system yet.
I am know dealing with the very helpful Rep in AZ-and will have to make deposits using my card at a WaMu(chase)atm-this makes little sense to me.
Today I went into my local WaMu/Chase branch with a copy of the offer and coupon. They called a Chase branch in Arizona and opened my account there.
I am heading out now to sign the signature cards at my local WaMu/Chase and they will make a $165 deposit for me to my new Chase account in Arizona.
The Arizona account rep that I am dealing with is now aware of this promotion and you may ask your local WaMu/Chase rep to deal with this Arizona Chase office:

Do you happen to remember the name of the person in AZ? I went into my CA wamu branch yesterday with the info you posted and my banker called that Az branch, but the person he talked to had no idea how to deal with this...

The moderator requested that information to be redacted to protect the privacy of the banker. I suggest contacting the person who posted the info directly to find out the real name if you require it.

Tried to open an account online. The code generated from their website is not being accepted. Plus using a chase credit card for funding the opening balance of $100 is going to be treated as a cash advance.
This bank seriously sucks!
So true.

OP is now only charging $3.95 per $1,200 of taxes paid for Visa debit transactions.
Is this correct?
Do you ever get miles for debit transactions?

I wonder if any ACH style deposit would work to qualify. It appears it only cares about the first direct deposit and first debit card transaction. I pay myself from my business account and just do an electronic transfer to my personal account. I am looking to open a new personal Chase account so this is attractive.
I would like to follow up on mcgahat's post. In short, I read the whole thread and did not see an answer.
I can use my employer's payroll to make a direct deposit, BUT I am limited to splitting my payroll deposit into no more than three direct deposits. However, I already have two direct deposits and need to add two more (including one to Chase).
SO...
1. How can I get Chase to accept another form of direct deposit to meet the Terms and Conditions for direct deposits? Edit: I read somewhere that an HSBCdirect recurring deposit will suffice. I can set up this with a weekly transfer from HSBC to my Chase account.
2. Do I really need to keep up "a repeating direct deposit" to get the bonus miles?
Per the Terms and Conditions of the offer, ". Also, to qualify for the first 10,000 bonus miles you must initiate such as payroll, Social Security or other government benefits. The first direct deposit must be completed within 60 days of account opening to earn the bonus miles."
Per the Chase Checking T & C's, "Chase CheckingSM A great everyday checking account! No monthly service fee, no minimum balance requirement - with established monthly Direct Deposit or with 5 or more debit card purchases during each statement period (withdrawals from the ATM or cash advance transactions do not qualify). https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?...ecking-Account
Thanks for the inquiry, I edit my post to add: I read somewhere that an HSBCdirect recurring deposit will suffice. I can set up this with a weekly transfer from HSBC to my Chase account.

This deal doesn't seem to be materializing for me....here's my timeline:
Feb 26: Opened Checking account with $100 deposit & cheap $25 United card
Mar 10: First direct deposit
Apr 15: Used check card for first time
Apr 10: Second and third direct deposit
May 10: Fourth and fifth direct deposit
May 15: 2,500 United miles posted to account (not 5,000 as promised)
No 10,000 bonus for me yet. I've called Chase 5 times now, but they keep putting me through to Mileage Plus reservations (at United).

Murphy at work.... I am NEVER in AZ....but I was last weekend. But I didn't read the thread all the way thru till today Maybe they would've been closed on Saturday & I can quit kicking myself?
Will try to go to one of the local offices nearby & try to do this later in the week.
(edited to add) Maybe this WON'T work.... I was about to print ou the offer the take with me and found this: Chase CheckingSM is available only at Chase branded branches excluding branches in California.
This deal doesn't seem to be materializing for me....here's my timeline:
I used the card right away after I received it and got my 5K points at the end of first month. With the direct deposit I got 2500 at the end of second billing cycle. I have to wait till Jun 13th to see if an additional 2500 points post this month also, and that the 10K is being split into 4 months, to make sure that the account stays open for a reasonable length of time. The last statement had a line which read, "Monthly fee waived if you have a direct deposit OR 5 card purchases." I did about half a dozen small amount charges and split my direct deposit to make Chase one of the receipients. So I covered both conditions, even though we should qualify with fulfilling just one of the two.
It is unfortunate that you are having problems because of some system glitch. I would recommend calling the Chase bank branch that you opened your account at and talking to the agent who helped you open it. Good luck!

I don't think that the 2,500-mile posting has anything to do with the direct deposit. For new debit card customers, the offer is actually 17,500 miles, not 15,000 miles. From the offer certificate:
"The second 5,000 bonus miles will be credited to your Mileage Plus account after the first qualifying purchase is made. You can also add up to three additional cards for others on your joint checking account and pay no additional annual fees. Plus each new cardholder will receive 2,500 bonus miles."
So I would expect the 10,000 miles for direct deposit to post as a single credit some time down the road.
Do you think this is possible? We might be in NV next week and can open accounts there -- since the California branches aren't participating I want to open TWO separate accounts.
One for myself only and I will be there doing all the paperwork.
A joint account for myself & my Mom (which will get her miles); only she WON'T be at the bank. Do you think I can open the joint account & add her name and info without her present?
