I have read a lot of this thread(not all the pages) and was hoping I could get some help-It appears we can open a business checking account in Calif after tomorrow. Wamu branch in my town. How do I go about making sure it will qualify for the continental 21000 miles? Also some mention of a personal account do i get additional miles for that?
I went on continentals website under onepass nothing.
looked under chase -nothing
Also any recommendations about which continentl credit card to appy for? there are several- anyone better than another and are any of them linked to the cheking account and if so shall i open the checking account before getting the credit card?

Do you get the Milathon bonus twice if you sign up for both a personal AND business account? Or is the Mileathon bonus a one per customer kind of thing?

Mabuk,

The strict answer to your question is: NO, you cannot get the bonus for both business and personal account. You can get a bonus for getting debit cards associated with the accounts, specifically Continental branded cards. Just to be clear, opening an account is not sufficient. There are three types of cards,

Select desired debit card below for more information on benefits and services.

Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card ($20 per year)

Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card ($65 per year)

Chase Continental Airlines Business Debit Card ($65 per year)

Combining the Mileathon (correct spelling) and the Chase Continental Checking account/debit card bonuses results in 25,000 miles per account (one business and one personal), plus the Mileathon credit.

I hope I got all this correct.

Continental posted the terms on their website, www.continental.com , specifically here, http://www.continental.com/web/en-US....aspx?sender=1

The short answer is, you can get a poinst for each different type of debit card.

Wait, I'm confused again. I realize the business card is $65 but thought the $20 personal card is fine for getting the bonuses?

Mabuk,

Yes, you are correct, the $20 Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card is sufficient for the personal checking. Sorry, I get so confused between all the offers (the Delta Suntrust Personal Checking offer requires the more expensive card). I will correct my post.

From the Chase Terms

https://www.chase.com/index.jsp?pg_n..._Consumer_9939

2. The second 15,000 bonus miles will be credited to the cardholder's OnePass account after the first qualifying purchase is made with your Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card or Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card. Please allow 6-10 weeks after your first qualifying purchase for bonus miles to post to your OnePass account. The first qualifying purchase must be made within the first 60 days in order to qualify for the bonus miles.

I've searched this thread and others for my answers and have 2 additional questions. I'm sorry if it has already been answered and I missed it.

As I understand it, I can get 25,000 miles for opening a personal Chase bank account:

https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?...&ID=0000009937

I print out the unique coupon code and take it into my local Chase branch. I'm in California, BTW.

In order to qualify, I need to either make a monthly direct deposit or make 5 debit card transactions per month. (I will be doing the former.) This will eliminate any monthly fees I have to pay on the checking account.

The second bonus comes when I make one purchase with my debit card. If I choose the lower grade debit card, I pay $20/annual fee.

1. Can I cancel the debit card after the first year to avoid the annual fee and still maintain my promotional miles?

2. I signed up for the Mileathon and also signed up for the Mastercard for the 46,000 miles. If I sign up for the debit card as part of this promo, will I get an additional 5,000 miles since I will have accrued 50 Milestones? Therefore, I will get a total of 30,000 miles for this offer?

This is what I love about FlyerTalk. Where else can you get a lesson on how Chase codes debit card transactions? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

A couple of weeks ago I was in Chicago for the weekend, so I took the opportunity to open a checking account using this offer. Half an hour filling in forms and $25 for the Continental debit card seems well worth it for 25,000 OnePass miles. I can only hope that there's a similar offer next year.

EDIT: Ha! Opened the account on 10/17, 22,500 OnePass miles in my account on 11/6. I'm still owed another 5k points, including the 2,500 Mileathon miles, but I'm not complaining

This offer has been extended 4 times, each time increasing in miles, so I am hoping too for extension cause I cant open another account till Jan.

I know there have been some issues with California (ex-WaMu branches) but can anyone tell me how things are currently? One line in the fine print confused me:

"Chase Checking is available only at Chase branded branches, excluding branches in California."

All of the old WaMu branches around here have been Chase for many months now, and they just did a conversion to Chase policies effective October 25.

So can Californians capitalize on this offer finally?

Anyone try to open more than one personal account with success?

I am going to have my wife sign up and open an account in her name, think there would be an issue using my CO#?

No problem, I applied using both my cat's and dog's name (I just had to fudge their age).

Seriously, YOUR credit application with YOUR name an YOUR OnePass number. Your wife can apply in HER name, with HER OnePass number. You cannot mix the two.

The Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card has an annual fee of $65 per checking account. If you choose the lower fee option of $25 with the Chase Continental Airlines Debit Card, you earn 1 mile for every $2 in qualifying purchases. Customers choosing the lower fee option will still receive the second 15,000 bonus miles after the first qualifying purchase.

Went to a Chase branch last week in CA, and was told they don't offer the CO debit cards yet. So, looks like no dice for CA.
