I know the T&C say "Up to 120 days" but I hate keeping a large balance in the checking accounts or on my CC's. I'd rather not have to pay $11.50/month for 7 months to get these miles.
I just got the last of my 20,000 miles almost three months after meeting all the eligibility requirements. There is no cost if you open the right type of Citi account. It was just annoying how long they waited to post the miles. I used promo code CEMT if anyone wants to try it.

Isn't the offer is for a Regular checking account?
Just got a new offer on the top of the statement, C2XA good thru 11/30/09.

Reason: correct typo
The code is for you to input. The fine print is the usual requisite activities that have been the same from such promo first offered many moons ago - namely, direct deposit, or 2 billpays, or 5 debit card charges when signatures are required.
10K first month the above are fulfilled. another 10K 9 months later when each month the above are fulfilled.
I would say, 10K is the real offer because personally I dont have patience to keep track / perform the required activities for the next 9 months.
Keep in mind the posting of bonus miles is another 3 months after fulfillment of said activities.

Actually, I believe the first 10K is after 3 months of meeting the requirements plus another 3 months of waiting.

No. on my offer it says FIRST month. I do believe the 3 months of waiting is correct. Any citi's bonus that is not the upfront sign up bonus, seems to take forever. I had some referral bonuses took a full year for the automatic posting, despite the program said 3 months. I called on the 5th month and got a supervisor manually pushed thru. Then at the year end I found some mysterious bonuses (TYP) and then realized they were the referral bonuses... despite 6 months earlier (and after the supervisor pushed it thru) I got a freaking letter denied offers ever sent to me... At the end, I rec'd the bonus first on the manual push, then a letter denied my eligibility, but no reversal of bonus, followed by identical bonus 9 months later after year end... So the after year end posting probably was the original schedule... While the outcome turned out to be in my favor (double-posting) but the process was totally ridiculous - because the offer said bonus would post after your referred person has opened the card and been in good standing for 3 months. In reality I saw zilch thru 5th month before calling.
Personally I have no interest in doing this so dont have any real experience.

CE8R is not recognized by offer.citibank.com
The 20K takes forever to get. However, the better approach would be to fund the savings account with a Citi credit card.
I also received an email offer today too for a savings account:

The code on this offer is CE8W.
Has anyone done this offer?
I'm already a CB banking customer but don't have this particular account. It does not seem like they realize I'm a CB banking customer; it seems to be targeted to me because of my credit card.
offers.citibank.com says:
"The offer code you entered is invalid.
Please check the offer code and try again."
No, the email has a link, which opens a new browser window and pre-populates the code on an application screen. But, since I'm an existing customer, when I click on a link to sign in, it takes me to different screens with my personal information and disclosures, and there is no box for the code on these pages. I may just call them. The phone number listed is 866-535-5598.
The fine print does say that the offer is only available to cardmembers who receive the communication.

Reason: Did not finish
I was going to sign up for this today until I read the fine print. You can meet the monthly requirements with the direct depost, or the billpay, or the debit card transactions. It says "or, or, or", so I assume that you don't have to do them all.
After I found out that they charge a monthly fee unless you have a $6000 balance, I aborted. I haven't seen a bank charge a fee for a "regular" checking account in several years. It's kind of rediculous. The other checking accounts that I have now are free (no min balance, no min transactions, etc), they don't charge for checks (no matter how many you write), and I get 5% interest (regardless of my balance). If you do have a "mishap", they also refund any overdraft fees any time you ask.
Even with the AA miles, as long as I would have to keep the account open, I don't see how it competes with other banks' "regular" checking accounts.
