What does this: "Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz..." mean?
Seriously, what does this "Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz..." really mean, and even more important, how is someone who honestly doesn't know what it means, supposed to find out?
How would an uninformed person know that "Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz..." doesn't include a "get UA miles for shopping at Target" promotion or a "Sign up for AOL and get 10,000 free Qantas miles" promotion? It certainly sounds like those promotions would fall into "the latest frequent flyer program buzzz..."
It is possible that the burden of the Miles Buzz moderators would be lightened if the description of allowable Miles Buzz topics was enhanced?

This is the first forum, so post it here and if it's not the right place then people can move it where it belongs
Doesn't matter what the specific heading is, lots of people will always choose the first selection (which is why our database if loaded with Admirals instead of Misters)
What does this: "Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz..." mean?
To me, it simply means that topics pertinent to the latest news concerning miles and points — without being specific to one airline — should be posted in MilesBuzz!
If the discussion about points and miles is specific to one program only, then it belongs in the forum of that program, such as SkyMiles in the Delta forum or Hilton HHonors in the Hilton forum, for example.
It also means that when posting in MilesBuzz!, one should beehive properly. For example, it may bee better to call someone honey rather than be stung with an insult like “idiot”, as recently witnessed in an earlier thread. This usually leads to the swarming of posts that attack other FlyerTalkers, which is strongly discouraged.
On the flipside, if the FlyerTalker either posts a topic not pertinent to MilesBuzz! or violates the terms and conditions of FlyerTalk, then the moderators will be glefft with no other choice but to lock the thread, no matter how much DLSIZE, moans and complains about it. This even goes for a Moderator2, as moderators are no exception to the rules.

So, Canarsie, are you suggesting that the description of Miles Buzz be changed to read:
"Discussion of the latest frequent flyer program buzz, which is not specific to one particular airline"?
Is this definition consistent with the understandings of the Moderators?
Cute response, BTW, Canarsie, and I agree that it would be wonderful if all posters could beehive properly, but alas, there are some who have not yet learned about catching bees with honey.

It seems like program-specific "buzz" is acceptable here as long as it's fairly universal (e.g., of benefit to the FT community at large, not just a small target market) and either somewhat unique or extraordinarily interesting.
Personally, I have taken advantage of several offers I read about in MilesBuzz that I never would have seen otherwise. Most of us probably participate in dozens of programs, but don't necessarily scan all of the boards.
I know that's a judgment call - if Hilton rolls out a new, global CNTU-style bonus, then I hope somebody posts it here! If AA sends you a postcard telling you that you get 500 bonus miles every time you fly to RDU, maybe save that one for the AA board...

I was thinking more along the lines of:
Discussion of the latest general frequent flyer program buzz.
I do not know whether this definition is consistent with the understandings of the moderators; it is merely my personal understanding — and I most certainly could be wrong.
For example, if someone posted in here, “What are the benefits to Gold Medallion status versus Silver Medallion status in the Delta SkyMiles program”, this should be posted in the Delta forum to not only receive a better-informed answer to that question, but also not to clog up MilesBuzz! with topics not particularly interesting to a general, broader population of FlyerTalkers (actually, pinnipedstated this more eloquently in the post immediately above this post). If someone who is not a SkyMiles member was really interested enough as to what the answer of that question should be, that person would take the time and effort to go to the Delta forum.
On the other hand (I used flipside already!), if someone asked for the latest comparison between AAdvantage Platinum, SkyMiles Gold Medallion and OnePass Gold Elite because of the recent changes in these programs, MilesBuzz! would be the appropriate place to post.
Like I said — I could be wrong.
On the third hand (yes, I wrote this on purpose!), perhaps MilesBuzz! should not be the first forum in the top-left corner of the FlyerTalk forum page, as many people naturally read from top-left to bottom-right, thereby giving MilesBuzz! its notorious popularity, especially amongst new FlyerTalkers.

It is clear that there is a small group of very negative Flyer Talkers who consistently attempt to highjack any thread that attempts to discuss any possible solution to ongoing Flyer Talk problems, such as the high percentage of mis-posted threads in MilesBuzz.
If perhaps, the moderators, could request that these folks refrain from posting if they have nothing positive to contribute to the discussion, real progress may finally be made toward finding solutions to some of these ongoing problems.
