Status Match -- from Lufthansa Miles&More to Aeroplan?
Hi, I've been a Lufthansa Senator for several years now, and am moving from Europe to Canada. Has anyone had success getting Aeroplan to status match their Lufthansa Senator status? Thanks! A.
Is the NWA number unchanged? I haven't heard a peep...
EDIT: Now that's just uncanny! 25 minutes after posting I received an email granting my status match. But it's only through Feb 2010! Which is a bit of a pickle for me now that Delta just announced double miles on all flights if you have a Delta Amex which means crediting the flights to DL and not NW....
Was it not consensus that a July match should be through 2011? Hmm....
I was told by a DL representative that if you request status match after June 15th, you will have that matched status through 2/11. I assumed the same was true for NW. I submitted a NW status match request on June 16th, but was only matched through 2/10.
Worst comes to worst, you can always have DL match your status after NW match expires 2/10.

Probably because NW Worldperks goes away after this year. Next year existing WP will transition to DL Skymiles
Did you just hear back on your 6/16 NWA status match request? I faxed in a request on 6/19 and haven't heard anything yet.
My status match was granted 6/25.

Dear Mr XXXXXX XXXX,
Thank you for contacting WorldPerks in regard to upgrading your account, XXXXXXXXXXXX.
A variety of criteria, including information from your US Airways mileage summary, is considered when evaluating requests from members to match elite status from another airline. After reviewing the information provided to us on your Dividend Miles account, your Northwest WorldPerks account has been upgraded to Silver Elite status.
This one-time complimentary membership upgrade will remain valid through
the 2009 elite program year.
Your credentials are now being processed and will be mailed to the address on file. You may expect to receive your Silver Elite kit in approximately three weeks.
In the interim, please print off your temporary WorldPerks reference card through nwa.com
From the nwa.com Home Page, select WorldPerks, then Manage My Account, then select Request a WorldPerks Reference Card, or click on the following address at:
If you have difficulties with the process, please contact our online support group at support@nwa.com or 1-800-692-6955 open 24/7.
In order to requalify for the 2010 program year, you must meet the published minimum elite qualifying thresholds through December 31, 2009.
Actual flight miles must be earned on Northwest, KLM, Delta Airlines, SkyTeam Alliance members or Northwest-designated flights operated by other WorldPerks partner airlines. Bonus miles and partner mileage credit do not count toward the annual elite qualification threshold.
We sincerely appreciate the support we receive from our members. We are working hard to distinguish our airline as a carrier of preference and we hope you will allow us the continued privilege of serving your air travel needs.
How did you submit your request? I'm thinking I might need to start over.
Wrote a quick memo explaining my intentions and submitted it along with a copy of my US Airways mileage statement to the NW fax # found in the original post:

Maybe I just need to wait a bit longer, because that's exactly what I did. I faxed a short cover letter and a copy of my AA account summary showing EXP status and over 100k EQM YTD.

I would call them to followup. Reference the fax submitted 6/19 and inquire as to whether or not you will need to resend it.
I might even try asking for a personalized fax # (which I honestly doubt any of these mass call centers use anymore), but at least ask for a direct phone # and email address with which you can get in direct contact with the respresentative you are speaking with.
Sometimes, things get jumbled and lost over the course of a major business transition (a.k.a. takeover or merger), so you might have to be patient and persistent with NW at this point in time

FWIW, I received my NWA match today. Only got Gold (matching to my AA EXP status) and only for the 2009 program year, but that's fine. They also offered an "Elite Challenge Hopeful Promotion" to get Platinum if I fly 7 RTs in 90 days (which I won't be doing).
Not sure if they just finally responded to my fax or if my email got them to act quicker.
