Just got a status match on UA as Premier Executive. My travel plans for March and April have changed, with my flights picking up again in May. Would UA defer the start of the 90 day period to May 1, rather than starting it today? Has anyone tried this?
I lurked here for a couple of weeks figuring out how to status match, with recent success so thank you.
Full story: I had Air NZ Airpoints membership when I moved to the USA a year ago, so kept putting all my *A flights against that. I hit NZ Gold in Dec 08 which is the highest I can get without flying a stack of NZ operated flights (most of my flying for work is USA domestic). Benefits as an NZ Gold flying domestic are fairly minimal so I started looking for USA carriers to status match me.
I'm happy enough with Star Alliance (all the networks/airlines give pretty measly service these days) but generally no *A will match another *A so I went after Continental OnePass thinking I could get into a USA based *A through their alliance swap. They said they don't match NZ... So then I went after NW thinking I'll use my once-in-a-lifetime status match with an airline that is disappearing anyway.
I faxed all the right documents to the fax number (as per instructions on this forum) requesting NW Platinum on the basis that only that level would give Skyteam status high enough to match the lounge access of *A Gold.
I was giving up hope when after 2 weeks they sent me an email notification that I was now NW Gold. I get the status for the 08/09 membership and the 09/10 membership (i.e. through to Feb 28, 2010).
I've been waiting for over 4 weeks to hear back from NW about a status match. Two week turnaround - consider yourself lucky!

UAL just matched my US Airways Gold Preferred to Premier Executive. When I got the acceptance email it stated, "To remain a Premier Executive member, you will need to fly 15,000 paid flight miles or 20 flight segments on qualifying flights* within that 90-day timeframe.".
Does that mean 15,000 miles regardless of class or fare purchased? For example, just purchased a flight to NRT in Y class so I will get 589 (IAD to ORD) and 6274 (ORD to NRT). With purchase of a Y class you get a 50% EQM bonus. Does that count towards my meeting the 15,000 paid flight miles? Also, I will have a return flight in C class...does the class of service bonus count?
Although I fly for mainly pleasure(???) or should I say leisure, I am a lifetime gold on AA. Am wondering if there are any other carriers that would match that status. Is it worth my time to send UA or NWA or others to send in my statements? At one time I was Gold on UA but only for a year. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Regardless of class. However, EQM bonus will not count.

Thanks EXLEFTSEAT. Appreciate the feedback. Looks like I just have to fly more to meet the 15k minimum within 90 days. It's unfortunate that they don't provide extra incentive for the Y class or biz and first class passengers. You would think they would want to keep that person sooner rather than later.
Continental matched my 1K status to Platinum the same day I made the request .Thanks to lucky and all contributors to the thread for the useful advice!
What is the contact info for Continental's status match program?
